The new menu at the Swan is certainly to be recommended. The mackerel with burnt apple jelly, (I know, sounds different!), for a starter is absolutely to die for and can be highly recommended, as can the pork bellies and the goats chees pasta mains. The miniature pan cotta is pretty special as well. The service is impeccable as ever... More

We were a party of six adults and we went to The Swan on the recommendation of the owner of our holiday cottage. Most of us ordered from the set menu which was very good value for money. The meals were very tasty and well presented and the food was far superior to "pub grub". The portion sizes were not... More

Popped in for lunch on Saturday. We hadn't booked and they fitted us in, the downside was that the able was opposite the fire exit to the garden which made it draughty, but they did close the door on my request and were very nice a bout it. Only problem is it's a bit of a wind tunnel and every... More

After a wander along the Farrow & Ball colour chart that is the main street of Long Melford, the Swan looked an inviting proposition and the lobster weekend promised a treat for lunch. So with a nice pint of Golden Hen in hand, I ordered six oysters and the lobster thermidor. The oysters were delicious, needing nothing with them to... More

My wife and I decided to use a very generous gift voucher given to us by friends. Things started quite promisingly. All good so far the drinks and both our chosen starter and main course delivered at a reasonably paced time. Great! The food was acceptable nothing fantastic, but you could not complain. The complimentary bread offered was so small... More

Having had a late Sunday lunch at The Swan in Long Melford on Sunday August 3rd, my daughter and I were eager to return - this time with her husband and two young sons for a meal over the advertised lobster weekend (August 7th to August 10th). Well, we have only just got back home - this evening August 9th,... More

I ate here with my wife on a Saturday evening. The restaurant was full. service was fairly prompt and waitresses friendly and informative. Our starters were excellent and original. The hake in my main course was overcooked and my wife's chicken slightly undercooked. Potatoes and vegetables were extra. Desserts were OK, but nothing exceptional. With a modest bottle of wine,... Food was good although husband thought his lamb dish should have been served with the basics ie potatoes and veg and had to be ordered separately. Overall pleasant restaurant for the area but won't be rushing back.
