Today I am feeling extremely upset reflecting on what should have been an enjoyable experience. After my father in laws funeral in June of this year , we decided to book a family meal at The Bull as close to Christmas as we could. When arranging this we were told that it was one of the Party Nights at the... More

This is the third time I have stayed at The Bull, Long Melford over the last few years and it has never failed to live up to my expectations on each occasion. The building remains full of character and charm. The room was spotlessly clean, including a newly fitted bathroom suite, very nice indeed. The staff were polite and attentive... More

This was the focus of our trip, being the location of our daughter’s wedding and reception. We stayed at a nearby B&B for two nights, in a quaint place called Denmark House, rather than at the Bull itself, purely because we were curious and wanted to try something different in the way of accommodation. The day of our arrival, we... More

My wife and I shared a nice lunch in this historic building. The good food was a bonus because the building alone was a jewel. We had a delightful lunch. My wife really, really enjoyed her smoked haddock. The chances of us being on Long Melford again are not great, but we loved eating here.

Went on Sunday lunchtime and had the chicken sharing board, and a side order of the macaroni cheese (which came with garlic bread) and is a meal in itself. Very good service and food come quickly. The staff are very friendly and this the third time we have been and found it always welcoming. The gooseberry crumble with ice cream... More

We have eaten lunch in the Bar and also the Restaurant on several occasions, the menus seem identical. The Bar seems rather dark and a bit cramped whereas the Restaurant is more spacious and conducive to a relaxed lunch. The food has always been good, sometimes very good. The staff are pleasant and obliging; but at busy times. for example... More

Having had a busy day I met up with a friend and we went to The Bull in Long Melford for a bite to eat in the bar. It has often seemed busy when I have been past so we thought we would give it a try. We almost left as soon as we sat down, the tables were sticky... More

A bit disappointed with the quality of food, I think I had higher expectations. mashed potato was solid and unappetising and the chicken was a little dry. Steak was cooked beautifully and the mixed grill was definitely for larger appetites. Gooseberry crumble was OK but the crumble topping was in big chunks like someone had broken a shortbread biscuit up... More

Whenever we are in the area my wife and I like to take tea at The Bull Hotel in Long Melford. One can always park easily outside the beautiful old timbered building, sink into a cosy chair in the ancient lounge and enjoy a meal or just tea for a very reasonable price. The hotel has a slightly shabby yet... More
