Called in on a late Sunday afternoon. Total number of customers including me was three. Large TV showing BBC news, which didn't lift the atmosphere. Had two pints of Foster's (£3:35 pint) and left. Large pub that needs a refurbishment just like the Greyhound down the road.

We called in for a Sunday night dinner after a stroll through the immensely quaint and historic village of Lavenham. The staff were welcoming and hospitable. Our meals were served hot with extremely generous portion sizes. The roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, vegetables and potatoes were cooked to perfection. A rather good range of ales were also available on tap. We... More

Travelling with a friend. Had evening meal at The Cock. I had fish and chips and my friend had soup. The meal was good and reasonably priced but the decor and the atmosphere was a little depressing. The staff also didn't seem very welcoming, but maybe an off day.

Friends took me for a day out in Lavenham and after checking the menus at the other pubs in town, we settled on the The Cock Pub. Food and service were great. There are patios in the front and rear of the pub, and we chose the rear garden as it is quieter. The pub is on the main road... More

Were looking for decent food for a family in Lavenham and this fitted the bill perfectly! Decor of the pub is a little old fashioned, but not the biggest issue. Very large menu meaning everyone is catered (but also indicates a good amount of re-heating food rather than freshly cooked food). Two ales on tap, both very tasty. Very good... More

We've used the Cock at Lavenham for years now, and it's been consistently good. They're busy a lot of the time (which says a lot about them!) but we've always had generous and reasonably-price portions, and the service has always been courteous. It's good to see gluten-free on their menu, although we don't need it, our son-in-law does. We like... More

If you are a vegetarian, beware! Meals are sold here as 'vegetarian' but contain parmesan cheese - which, as every self-respecting vegetarian knows, is NOT a vegetarian cheese. My friend and I went for the lentil roast, which was rather charred round the edges, as was the Yorkshire. However, there was a good choice of vegetables and my husband, who... More

Wanted simple meal on Sunday evening.Should have been suspicious at relatively large choice in what seemed to be very quiet but large eating area. Was attracted by availability of some dishes as small portions so chose small "Roast of the Day" - beef. What came reminded me of a Tesco dinner for one - certainly not home made! My husband faired... More

The only good thing about this place is the low prices. The roasts were out of a packet and tasteless - the lamb could have been pork. The steak and the three tiny sausages were awful as well. It may be just OK for the prices but it isn't good as most reviewers claim. Agree about the 'mouthy landlady' one... More
