My first trip to Pea Porridge and not disappointed. If you want 'traditional' food, then this restaurant might not be for you. We found the staff very friendly and helpful. We arrived early for a Friday lunch and it was soon filling up and you can see why you need to book in advance. It seemed popular with the locals... More

I loved this little gem of a restaurant just outside main centre of Bury St Edmunds. The food quality was fabulous. Service friendly and warm. The venue was cozy, with real fires and a vintage bread oven. Give it a go!

Great atmosphere and friendly service. Tasty but light food, perfect business meal location a short walk from the town centre.

This was our second visit here, the last one just over a year ago. If anything, it has got better. Admittedly, the menu is "alternative" and mainly appeals to foodie meat eaters, but as a lifelong vegetarian with other eating issues (unwelcome) I managed a choice of 2 starters. My husband had the venison stew followed by the pigeon breasts... More

I'm not sure why it has taken me so long to eat at Peas Porridge but I will be returning soon. Friday evening, fully booked. Sparkling Vouvray as an aperitif. I had one my partner two. Complimentary pea croquettes. I had curried lamb sweetbreads with sweet potatoes and baby spinach as a starter. This was like a thick soup or... More

I've been here a few times and while the menu looks exciting, the food and wine is nearly there rather than wowing. The wines I've tried have always left me wishing I had tried different ones and the food is, although different, a little bit safe and lacking that extra oomph that Michelin star restaurants deliver. The service is the... More

If you come to Bury St Edmunds make sure you hunt this place out - you won't regret it. I loved the service and atmosphere and great food with friendly yet non intrusive staff. The menu is amazing and very high standard. The venison was a joy and my wife loved the vegetarian option which was adventurous and delicious. She... More

First time visiting the Pea Porridge not sure that I will ever go again. On booking I declared that I was a Coeliac I was told that there would be no problem as the chef was very accommodating. However there were no gluten free options on the menu and I was told that many of the dishes I would have... More
