Despite living in Bury St Edmunds since the 70's, I have only recently tried this restaurant. I rarely eat out in Bury St Edmunds as the quality of most restaurants I find sadly lacking. How great to find Pea Porridge with a menu I could truly say I could have chosen all of the starters and main courses and not... More

Went for dinner in January. Warm reception and cosy room. There was a great choice on the menu with many unusual ingredients and combinations, and the service was unhurried and helpful. The restaurant was fairly full, but the tables are not too close that you feel hemmed in. The food that was served lived up to the menu description and... More

I make no apology for writing another review of this fantastic restaurant in Bury St Edmunds. We came here for our wedding anniversary meal. Midweek and the restaurant was packed. We love the relaxed atmosphere with no pretensions but we particularly like the adventurous approach to food and wine. Always willing to spend that little bit more to mark an... More

To set the scene my girlfriend and I came back up from London to see my parents who had kindly offered to take us out for dinner.... I was delighted when they said they'd booked a table at Pea Porridge as my previous experiences there were fantastic. The service was impeccable, food delicious and menu we'll varied! This little gem... More

We had dinner here on Saturday 29th March, what a treat was in store. A warm welcome and delicious food and wine, the young waiter was very attentive and gave us a potted history on the restaurant. The food really is exceptional which is I'm sure why the restaurant which is off the beaten track was packed, obviously the location... More

This is my kind of place, top quality food, excellent wine, varied menu, great service, non pretentious and good value. We started with a plate of the Iberico ham and a bowl of pig's ears. The ham was melt in the mouth delish and the pigs ears a new experience. I can't say they were my favourite things but it's... More

This restaurant is just very good. Imaginative food well prepared, cooked and served in such nice surroundings by such nice people. Expensive for Bury St Edmunds but not over the top for such good food. What more can I say!.

Nice evening out with friends. Good service, and decent menu. More interesting menu, different from the usual, as well as standard fayre.
