Very unpretentious from outside, (Canon Brewery Pub next door for pre meal Drinks), but inside the place ooses with "what a lovely place to eat." The food is the most origional in BSE and the quality beyond question, if not everyones taste. Different, interesting unusual but never the less if one is adventurous well worth while. The service is very... More

The food was great, but the cost seemed steep. We had two meals and a bottle of wine (all great), but paid around 100 pounds.

We visited for a meal with friends. We thought the food was of a very high standard with a lovely menu, not at all the usual run of the mill. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere good. At the time I thought it was a little pricey, but worth it for a treat, but since have experienced meals elsewhere... More

I went here with my partner for his birthday. The food was amazing and it had the atmosphere that many restaurants lack. I love the little added extras that you get and the intimate feel of the place really makes the experience!

Finest food in Bury without any pretensions. The food literally is brilliant, but what makes this place so good is the staff and atmosphere. I'm fairly unsophisticated and feel a little awkward in other restaurants which can serve food this good. Best place in bury for top quality food.

Despite living in Bury St Edmunds since the 70's, I have only recently tried this restaurant. I rarely eat out in Bury St Edmunds as the quality of most restaurants I find sadly lacking. How great to find Pea Porridge with a menu I could truly say I could have chosen all of the starters and main courses and not... More

Went for dinner in January. Warm reception and cosy room. There was a great choice on the menu with many unusual ingredients and combinations, and the service was unhurried and helpful. The restaurant was fairly full, but the tables are not too close that you feel hemmed in. The food that was served lived up to the menu description and... More

I make no apology for writing another review of this fantastic restaurant in Bury St Edmunds. We came here for our wedding anniversary meal. Midweek and the restaurant was packed. We love the relaxed atmosphere with no pretensions but we particularly like the adventurous approach to food and wine. Always willing to spend that little bit more to mark an... More

To set the scene my girlfriend and I came back up from London to see my parents who had kindly offered to take us out for dinner.... I was delighted when they said they'd booked a table at Pea Porridge as my previous experiences there were fantastic. The service was impeccable, food delicious and menu we'll varied! This little gem... More
