We knowthat not everyone wants the same thing from a pub. You might want a pint of local real ale at the bar ... A bottle of wine and a grazing board on the sofas ... A meal in the dining room ... A really good coffee and a read of the paper ... Take your pick. If real ale is your thing, look no further. We offer our own Brewshed Best Bitter and Pale Ale plus a couple of guest ales. We're passionate about wine and have created an award winning list Which offers a selection of old favorites combined with some more unusual and quirky wines. The common theme is did we believe They Are all well made wines offering good value for money. Every single one of our wines are available by the glass (except some champagnes). On the food side, the emphasis is on good quality, seasonal produce and, wherever Possible, we source it locally. We love Sunday lunch and offer a great roast - bring the family or meet up with friends and catch up on your way. We're open from noon until late. So if you're in need of a locally roasted coffee in the afternoon, you know where to come. Free wi-fi is available Throughout the pub. What about the kids? Children are welcome in the bar before 6pm and 8pm in the restaurant but evenings are just for the grown ups. Our kids menu is Important to us. It is Aimed at children under 8 and each dish is freshly prepared. You can therefore order a roast pork or beef kids on Sundays. Where Possible, we are very happy to prepare smaller Portions from our main menu. Baby changing facilities, high chairs, activity sheets and crayons are available.

Great beer

I can highly recommend this pub for a great meal. I had hake and it was the best I've ever had, it was served with samphire and sliced potatoes, my husband had burger. The pub also brew their own beer, I had the pale ale. A definite must if you are in Bury St Edmunds.

I've heard a lot of good things about this place for a long time now, especially about their Sunday Lunch (as per other reviews) and I can safely say it surpassed all my expectations and certainly lived up to its hype! I've never had crackling quite like it before! The staff looking after us were all very friendly and attentive... More

I have eaten here on a few occasions and the food has always been of very good standard and well presented. Staff are friendly and helpful. The restaurant has a nice feel and as its in a public house, it still feels like a restaurant. We are going back in 2wks!

Six of us for dinner. Used the very efficient online booking system, and delighted to find we had the round (best in the place) table. Dinner was excellent....with the exception of one starter that 3 of us chose. Described as a "Prawn and Heritage tomato cocktail" but it had no sauce! So it was prawns, tomatoes and lettuce in a... We visited this restaurant last year with friends and had an excellent meal. Whilst the environment is modern and pleasant I am sad to say that on this occasion the food was badly cooked and indifferent. The sandwiches were made with thick slices of spongy, cheap bread (although the pea and spinach soup was OK), the fried polenta was over... More

We have had a consistently good experience in this Gastro Pub for food, especially for the Sunday Lunches! Roast Beef Yorkshire pub served up with locally sourced fair. Excellent. Nice staff, light and airy. It has a modern twist whilst retaining all the period feel and features that you would expect. Great for families too, very accommodating. An excellent choice... More
