Sam and the team at The Lighthouse restaurant welcome every customer into a relaxed atmosphere which instantly makes you feel at home. With three different eating locations, downstairs, upstairs and the courtyard, The Lighthouse offers a 'Sleepy Suffolk' approach to eating out, with you dictating the pace of your evening. The Lighthouse chefs work tirelessly to continue to produce mouth-watering dishes for the A la carte menus and, the lunch & pre-cinema menu. With the creations of the dishes, Head Chef Guy Welsh ensures that the ingredients for all his dishes are as local as possible, with much of the fish coming right off the beach in Aldeburgh, our duck coming from Norfolk based Gressinghams, Five Winds butchers in Melton for our juicy steaks and local salad leaves from Sue Allen in Thorpeness. To round off the perfect evening, The Lighthouse offers a wide selection of tempting wines and local Adnams beers to compliment all of our dishes.

Good as ever

Last visited this restaurant 2 or 3 years ago. Easily the best known restaurant in Aldeburgh. Incredibly the Front of House Sam remembers us......that we're from the North and do crosswords. Except that Sam is now the owner with lovely wife Maxine. If anything the food is even better. Really... read more

A real highlight of our bank holiday trip to Aldeburgh! Wonderful unpretentious well-established restaurant with delicious dishes made using only fresh local ingredients, including Blytheburgh pork and lots of Aldebugh-caught fish and shellfish. We were made to feel like special guests even though it was our first visit and were bowled over by the warm, friendly and very efficient service.... More

The Lighthouse is the perfect place to go whether just the two of you or more. There is always a warm welcome from Sam and service always comes with a smile. Had a fantastic meal on Tuesday night, the restaurant was full yet service was quick. Great atmosphere.

Four of us ate on a Monday evening and had a good meal. We've visited several times over the years and have yet to be disappointed. The restaurant was surprisingly busy and had a good atmosphere - sitting upstairs was fine and the layout of the tables etc is good. Service was efficient and welcoming and there were some good... The lighthouse is a nice restaurant with good friendly service and we enjoyed ourselves. Both main courses were good. The restaurant was busy (surprisingly so for a Monday evening) and we were seated next to an internal wall and the kitchen upstairs which made us feel a little hemmed in. Would definitely return, but would try to ensure there was... More

Visited on Saturday with my two daughters for a post-60th birthday treat. We received a very warm welcome, the service was first rate without being intrusive and there was a really pleasant, relaxed atmosphere. The salad starters were delicious, with lovely flavour combinations and the fresh crab salad was delicious. Every course was well presented but unfortunately we had no... More
