Great takeaway

we were a large group of 11 adults and 3 children, we asked if we needed to book in advance and were told no. When we arrived our order was no problem. it was dealt with quickly and effortlessly. somehow we got there when there was no queue because by the time we left the queue was out of the... read more

I have been many times over the years and the fish and chips are always excellent. The best infact. For the genuine Aldeburgh experience, take them down to the beach and sit on the shingle, watch the gulls as they hope for an easy snatched meal. My only complaint would be the long queue which always streches along the pavement.

This is my local, I go to the shop on the corner (Not Golden Galleon). On Thurs 16th April 2015. 19:15pm I was absolutely appalled by the cod and chips - all 3 pieces of cod were overcooked in fact it's fair to say they were cremated!! The chips left a lot to be disired. It cost my Husband near... More

This was supposed to be a light lunch and they could see we we're wondering how not to have too much! Plus if we had one between us we like different amounts of salt and vinegar. Problem solved! The lady serving suggested we share a large fish (£4) which we did plus chips at 1.75 I think. She split it... More

Not sure why the reviews are so good or the queues so long. I thought the Gallion further down the high street was better. Have had better fish and chips in my home town and certainly better in the north east when on holiday up there.

Watching the weight I don't get to eat fish and chips very often these days so, when I do, it's a real treat... or it should be. Touring around Suffolk for a few days we fitted in a visit to Aldeburgh and planned to enjoy fish and chips from reputedly "probably the best fish and chip shop in the world"... More

i have been a visitor to this chip shop most of my life, it used to serve the best homemade fish cakes . My son took me to Aldeburgh for a belated Mother's Day lunch, fish and chips on the beech! Sadly I was very disappointed, the portion size was small and quality certainly not what it used to be.... More

Went to aldeburgh for mine and my boyfriends 2 year anniversary as I have always wanted to go and try out the fish and chips, see the town and sit on the beach so we went and it was really nice! It was bank holiday Monday so was busy but all I can say is don't be put off by... More

Perfect way to round off a day out in Aldeburgh; queuing out the door only adds to the experience and it really is worth the wait! I had large cod and chips - the fish was so tender and succulent and a nice big fat piece! We ate sitting on the beach wall watching the world go by - heaven!... More
