Mid-80s Polish bread shop queues

Ok, so it's coca-cola vs Pepsi here. Reviewing the other one later this week. But today we've gone with the alpha male. You better like waiting. Also the queue moves slower than a lazy sloth with a bad back. However, the fish was excellent. By which I mean I never saw their cold dead eyes... read more

We visited Aldeburgh yesterday and fancied some fish and chips as you do. We joined the end of the queue and waited about 20 mins. The fish was cooked to order and was tasty, however, the chips were a bit too greasy for my liking. Apparently, they are cooked in beef fat.

So, so, so fed-up with being ripped-off at the Golden Galleon. Every year they do the same stunt. At the first sign of sunshine the portions go tourist-size ; which means you pay the same but it's Fish Farewell. An anorexic six year-old would have gone hungry on the portion of 'medium' cod I was served on Saturday. I;m not... More

We were told to go here while in Suffolk.... We were not disappointed... The fish was moist and perfectly cooked. The chips were just crunchy enough to take a splash of malt vinegar. The price was reasonable. We sat and ate in the beer garden next door with a nice local ale. Excellent.

Well last night's haddock, chips and mushy peas was superb, as it was last bank holiday. The food varies from average to very good and I'm pleased to report it's top class again.

Having a holiday home in Aldeburgh for years, we are still mystified why this chip shop is rated so highly - maybe because of no competition nearby? Yes the fish and chips are good (if a little too greasy) but we have eaten better (and cheaper) in places close to Aldeburgh and also at home.

Freshly cooked fish and not a long wait, even though very popular. Helpful staff and willing to split a large portion of chips over two orders.

This was my second visit to Aldeburgh and the first time the fish and chip shop was open. After a walk along the front to enjoy the timeliness if the town I bought my haddock. I sat on the beach in shirt sleeves ( on the east coast!) and went into seventh heaven with my fish. It was so good... More

While visiting Aldeburgh decided to have a chippy tea on Friday. Thought it would be nice to get chips and go eat them down by the sea. They were fresh and hot but very greasy, in fact they reminded me of chips from the early 80s. I know my chips and these were so greasy and soft they didn't hold... More
