Our new Bar and Brasserie has been inspired by a modern desire to return to simple, 'back to basics' food, offering freshly prepared dishes, contemporary, informal surroundings and impeccable service. We hope the whole family will enjoy dining with us. From fresh fish bought from Dean's Shed, situated on the beach opposite the White Lion, to smoked kippers sourced from Pinney's of Orford, every ingredient used in the exciting dishes which feature on the new menu, has been 'hand picked' to guarantee an abundance of flavours - Bon Appétit.

Well run restaurant servingwell prepared food. Relaxed atmosphere

Ideal place to go for a quiet meal after a stroll along the seafront. The restaurant has plenty of space and the staff are very attentive. The menu was varied and the food presented was attractive. We did book ahead but they were eager to accomodate any last minute diners.

Visited the white lion Easter Monday. Having visited the white lion many times before and having always enjoyed it, I had high expectations of our lunch that day. Since changing to the 'brasserie bleu' the menu has shrunken considerably, will a very limited choice compared to the old menu. A real shame. I opted for the squid, followed by the... More

Just reopened after a facelift we were impressed by the new look Bar and Brasserie. Very friendly service and good value food from the special lunch menu, We had a token from the local paper which meant that in addition to the £12 for two courses deal, we had a free glass of wine included, so excellent value. The French... More

We are here as a family of 6 on a Saturday. The restaurant was busy but the service was nonetheless prompt and personable. Food was excellent - a very varied menu covering all tastes; extremely well presented. Yes, the prices are probably above average, but it was overall good value and well worth the experience.

I went to dine in the White Lion with three friends and it really was a very well organised and efficiently run place, with really good food. We had the set menu, two courses for £12 or three for £16 and it was excellent, including an imaginative vegetarian option, of white carrot soup (yes really) which was very good, following... More

Lovely cocktails (bloody and Virgin). Prix fix menu was excellent value at 16.50 and they didn't scrimp. Salt Beef starter was a little disappointing but fish main courses were excellent. Tartare Sauce, if it was homemade, was delicious. Lovely staff who were young but very attentive and discreet. Great value at £100 for three including a cheeky Muscadet! We will... More

It was a shame that after the first evening which was quite enjoyable, the dinner on the second night of our stay turned out to be more of an ordeal, including over long waiting times for the food to arrive, twice being given the wrong orders, and when I finally got mine not particularly good, then also at the end...
