We missed out on being able to book this for Sunday lunch, so went for dinner on Monday instead. Really delicious food - a well thought out menu with something for everyone. I had the prix fixe menu, which represented excellent value at £12 for 2 courses, £16 for 3 courses with no skimping on portion size or quality.

What a lovely place, the staff were just lovely, we let them know it was our 25th Anniversary when we booked and they had a complimentary glass of champagne for us on arrival. The food was fabulous, the room is lovely, the staff are so pleasant and just the right amount of attention.

We visited the Brasserie on Saturday 11 October with friends. The welcome to the restaurant was very warm and we were offered a booth which we liked. It was comfortable and easy to chat to our guests because it was a bit quieter than a table in the middle of the room. We all had a starter and main course... More

Good to average. Make sure they don't palm you off with a lousy table. One of those meals immediately forgotten.

Sunday lunch and a window seat. From the menu we chose ham hock terrine,a pannacotta of goat's cheese followed by plaice and roast hake on a pea purée. One of us also had 'Sunday roast'. It is food beautifully served with flavour. I must mention the wonderful waitress who offered a taster of the two white Sauvignons sold in 50cl... More

My partner & I were spending the night here so had dinner booked. Positives first: nice venue with smart furniture incl polished booth tables, and the place busy so evidently they must be doing something right. The service was also attentive and our starters decent, but things went downhill with the mains. The fish special was inundated with a creamy... More

Although we hadn't booked, we did arrive at 6.10pm and the restaurant was almost empty. We had been walking all day and just wanted a nice bottle of wine and dinner. As we walked in we were approached by a young lady who asked if we had booked, we said no, she asked if it was a table for two... More

Dear Andrew Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, I can only apologise for what appears to be a gross miscommunication. Our Brasserie is popular and tables get booked in advance but I apologise that this was not explained to you and you felt that you were not looked after; this was certainly not our intention as... I had relatives visiting recently, we needed to find somewhere to take them for lunch. My first thought was the white lion. Having two nephews & their nanny, we needed somewhere they would enjoy & that the food would be great value. There was a very good selection of sandwiches & cupcakes, pots of tea & hot chocolate for the... More

We were given an oval table which was entirely appropriate for 6 people- plenty of room. Our waiter was very attentive, friendly and accommodating. (2 of our party wanted to share a 10oz steak. One wanted rare and the other wanted medium. The waiter checked with the chef and it was agreed. It arrived perfectly cooked on 2 plates with... More
