Our new Bar and Brasserie has been inspired by a modern desire to return to simple, 'back to basics' food, offering freshly prepared dishes, contemporary, informal surroundings and impeccable service. We hope the whole family will enjoy dining with us. From fresh fish bought from Dean's Shed, situated on the beach opposite the White Lion, to smoked kippers sourced from Pinney's of Orford, every ingredient used in the exciting dishes which feature on the new menu, has been 'hand picked' to guarantee an abundance of flavours - Bon Appétit.

Good food

We visited in August when the restaurant was busy. The staff are pleasant and attentive and the food is delicious. This is an informal restaurant with a good atmosphere.

Stayed in the Hotel, had two evening meals in the restaurant. Wide choice, excellent food, great service. All these points reflected in the Breakfast meal as well.

Extensive menu, good beers and wines. Had two good meals here especially breakfast. Friendly staff. Modern decor in a traditional hotel. Frequented by locals, need I say more !!!!

Dinner for two adults and two boys under 10 was excellent. Dinner was great with decent size portions and lovely presentation but desserts were incredible. Good value as well - best restaurant we visited.

Really like the refurbishment of this bar/ restaurant since I last visited. Booked to celebrate a family birthday. Felt smart and a treat, but welcoming to children ( not a combination always easily achieved!!) only slight criticism was the lack of vegi options on the menu on the day were there. Just a salad, when thenredtnof my group were tucking... More

Put simply, this is one of the best afternoon tea experiences we have had. Sandwiches, cakes and scones, all lovely and friendly staff who know how to make you feel welcome.

We visited the Brasserie on Friday 12th June with friends for an evening meal. One of the starters was tasteless - but to their credit the waitress spoke to the chef who agreed with our assessment and it was taken off the menu and our bill. The rest of our meal was excellent and the service very good. However, we... More

Service was good and the welcome friendly at this recently refurbished restaurant. We probably would have given it four stars if the food had been more consistent good value. One of us had crispy battered prawns followed by beef bourgignon, both of which were delicious; the beef especially was a very generous portion, richly flavoured with superbly creamy mash. The... We visited as a group of 5, plus our 18 month year old son, for Sunday lunch. The food is good - especially the roast beef which was really well cooked - but the service is average at best. We had to wait forever to have our order taken, and then an absolute age between each course. Some of our... More

I have often given this 5 stars in the past but the service was slow and they kept forgetting about us so I suspect a management problem. Come on guys - an improvement here will get you back to 5 stars. Also change your colouring - it's a bit boring and your pencils/crayons need changing.
