Although I'm not a 'regular', I have visited the Vane Arms on quite a number of occasions and have NEVER been disappointed. The food, service and atmosphere is tremendous. Last night was a little bit different - with entertainment added to the mix...... They have recently introduced 'live music' to The Vane (a couple of times a month I believe?).... More

This is a very comfortable and stylish little Bistro type restaurant in a nice village setting. It's obvious that the owners know what makes a good eating place and make sure they provide it. The food is simple and very tasty and they offer a good range of beer and wine. The atmosphere is friendly and it is just a... More

Had Sunday lunch here today with my family, our first visit to eat since it was refurbished. Firstly the place is warm and welcoming, the staff attentive, and generally a nice venue. Food I have to say was disappointing, portion size not very large, the beef tasty, but not very much of it. Vegetables were ok, I prefer my cabbage... More

we drove to Thorpe Thewles to explore and came upon this little gem. They managed to squeeze us in without booking. Every course was delicious and the portions were a good size. The atmosphere was great and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. We will definitely return!

This is a popular venue for us, although we don't often dine out. Good honest food, decent portions, sensible prices. Pleasant surroundings. Friendly efficient service.

Last night myself and friends went to the winemakers dinner and had some wonderful food and wine. Ham hock, pea and mint risotto. The most delicious lamb with loads of yummy vegetables (and not your standard boiled variety) and plum crumble which was finished off with a good sprinkling of chopped nuts and custard. Then the wine, which was explained... More

I'd heard good things about this place and was excited to give it a try for Sunday lunch. We were quickly seated and the food arrived promptly. I asked for my roast beef pink, but it was only slightly lighter in colour than those in my party who requested well done. I was served one thick cut piece of meat,... More

We absolutely love this place and go on average once a week, treating it as our local even though it is a few miles away. The food is beautiful, with unbelievable homemade bread and stunning desserts made by the truly talented Vanessa. Menu offers great selection of starters mains and puds, good range of beer/lager and fab wine list. I... More

We arrived at 6pm, and were greeted by a very friendly member of staff (Rosie). She was efficient and helpful on choosing from the menu, as I don't really like meat! There was no one in the pub when we were seated, but it soon filled up. Our food was FRESH and TASTY, with no long waiting in between courses.... More

Visited a few times, always delicious. Good specials boards, not masses of choice but we've always found dishes to suit our tastes. I've tried homemade burgers and pies, fresh fish and a delicious Sunday lunch. A must visit
