First time we have tried the evening menu having visited at lunch time a number of times. The menu had something for everyone with various meat and fish dishes. I opted for the Scotch Egg starter followed by the fillet steak. Both dishes were tasty with the steak cooked as requested. We could not fault the food, service and presentation... More

Had a lovely lunch - the salmon and cheese soufflé were excellent. Would definitely return for further visits if the menu stays as good as this

We had heard good things about the revamped Vane Arms and it didn't disappoint. We went to celebrate a birthday and had a lovely 3 course meal sat next to the roaring fire. The service was really good and friendly and the food was excellent - the chocolate fondant was a highlight. Also loved the Brockmans gin with Fentimans tonic.... More

We have enjoyed an excellent Sunday lunch today at this renovated pub. The decor is smart and the pub has a cosy feel with a large fire. The service was first rate and the food delicious. Roast rib of beef - beautifully pink was the star dish. Roast lamb and dover sole were also very good. A really relaxing pub... More

Really great place for dinner. Log fires on a cold winters night made for a warm welcome and the food was fantastic. Service was friendly and swift. Can't fault anything, recommend you try if you are in the area.

Was introduced to this eatery yesterday and am kicking myself I've not tried here before. A lovely rustic atmosphere with a warm welcome assured. All the food is locally sourced, lovingly prepared and delivered with care to your table. Lovely log fires add to the atmosphere. If you have a weakness for home-made custard, crumble with added oats for that... More

This is a great pub and restaurant for a drink and good food. Tastefully decorated with two roaring fires (great at this time of the year!). Free house so good selection of beers. The manager also has good knowledge of the wines he serves. I understand the fresh bread is made daily by the owner, with two alternatives - sourdough... More
