Great find - great food, fantastic beer!

We've been here quite a few times now, after discovering that the Duke William has a certain sublime beer on as a regular. We haven't had food in the evenings but we have had the lunchtime meals several times and each time it's been excellent; good starters and equally good main courses. The veg... read more

I don't normally partake in reviews however after reading some negativity that has been put on here I feel I have to have my say. On the 31st Jan my mother and I held a joint birthday party at the Duke of William. The staff could not have been more helpful to our friends and Family and Chef was attentive... More

We visited for a Sunday lunch and found an offer of 1,2 or 3 courses so we opted for the 2 courses. We had garlic mushrooms and the soup of the day, both very nice however the soup was too hot to eat and by the time it cooled down, the other starter had been eaten. Main courses were lovely,... All guests commented on how fresh and delicious the food was, and so much off it and so much choice. Thank you Mark and your excellent staff. We could not have wished for more... More

The first thing that hit us when we walked up the stairs to the Restaurant was the oil smell from the fryers, this really affected my eyes and made them smart. The place was very cold and we were not able to take off our coats for the first 30 mins or so. We ordered our food from a very... More

To start off I would like to say that we are very sorry that you did not enjoy your visit. The pate which is stated in the menu is homemade and is one of our most popular choices and one from which receive a lot of complements. The soup of the day which when you visited was French Onion and... More

Six of us had a lovely meal, the starter of garlic mushrooms was scrummy could have eaten this as my main also. The portions were the right size not over powering but more than enough. My meal was good to perfection and real chips what a treat. The lady who waited on was very pleasant and made us feel very... More

Went there on Saturday night (29th Nov 2014) in the restaurant upstairs. The service started off good but deteriorated massively. The waiting staff disappeared for ages and the waiter was more interested in setting more tables than in serving the people already there. I ended up having to stand up and wave him down to get his attention. My meal was... More

My wife and I had a lovely meal on a Thursday evening. Starters were good quality and large portions. We both had sirloin steak for mains and they were cooked to perfection. I had a recommended real ale and that also was superb. Informal, friendly atmosphere and very reasonable prices. Tip - don't have the starter if you fancy a... More

This is the best traditional English food in Stoke on Trent. The steaks are cooked to perfection and the sauces are sublime. I always have an excellent meal here and would recommend it to anyone especially for family occasions.
