Had reserved a table a week previously but were kept waiting for 15 minutes upon our arrival which was really poor on a rare night out for us. That said the staff did everything humanely possible to rectify the situation with prompt attentive service and free drinks! Well done - I am in the customer service industry and if a... More

We tried another restaurant in Litchfield but after waiting for 20 minutes they then told us they didn't have our choice in maincourse. We therefore went around the corner and found this great place. The service was amazing food was perfect and the price is very reasonable indeed.

We are regulars at 1709 ( previously Pastiche) and always enjoy our visits there. The food is always good and priced sensibly, the wine list is also good and not too expensive and the staff are always friendly and accommodating. Well worth a visit.

This is a lovely, cosy, low-ceilinged place turning out modern, straightforward, European/British cuisine at unbelievably low prices. The friendly maître d'/owner explained they achieve this by avoiding expensive ingredients. That's true, but ferocious portion control also accounts for it. For example, a starter salad featuring fried haloumi with chilli was interesting and well-executed but just one small slice of the... More

Been coming here for years, one of our favourite places in Lichfield but last night was not it's finest hour. We had the Mediterranean sharing platter which was so stingy it was unbelievable. The "home made flatbread" was about half a pitta cut into tiny strips with a scrape of hummus, and a few peppers, artichokes and olives. Then we... More

Arrived for ladies that lunch today, on entering greeted very well. As we had booked we were shown to our table. They have a 3 course menu for £8.95. I chose for my starter, pork with chutney and granary bread and salad garnish. Wasn't sure what to expect the pork was just a few pieces of pulled pork at the... More

Came here friday night and was seated upstairs, although its a small and quirky resturant you dont feel like you are crammed in like sardines. Great value 2 or 3 course meal options, i chose the beetroot and goats cheese salad, sweet potato fitters and chocolate torte. The first 2 courses were filling and tasty, was only very slightly let... More

Not the first time I've eaten here but it's the first Sunday lunch I've had at 1709. A lovely family lunch here today. The food was amazing and the service excellent. Don't know how they can produce such great food for the money!

Had an anniversary meal here today and it was lovely! 3 courses for £12 would normally worry me but the food was of a standard I'd expect to pay £12 just for the main course. The menu is inspired and original (apart from the standard roasts but they are to be expected for a Sunday lunchtime), the service absolutely excellent... More
