Expected a lot more

1709 the Brasserie is a lovely looking restaurant both inside and out. It looks quaint and has a really good atmosphere to it. It deals well with large groups and the service is friendly and attentive. As a Brasserie however, I was expecting the food to be a lot better than it was. There was... read more

Set in a historic building of great character this cosy restaurant serves well presented super quality food with many sophisticated dressings & sauces. We both had the tasty duck hash on watercress with cherry dressing to start, & my sea bass main with prawn & caper lemon butter sauce, served on a bed of shredded leek & new potatoes, was... More

Took my mother for an early lunch at the restaurant. The building itself is lovely, very sweet and cosy. The staff were brilliant, kept our drinks topped up and were very attentive. The food was delicious, and excellent value for money (£14.50 for three courses from the Mother's Day menu). I had chicken pate for starter, roast salmon for main... More

Booked a table as a surprise birthday lunch for my sister. We were warmly greeted and seated straight away. Lunch menu choice and price was good. Service good.

Caught up with a friend here after work, so we arrived around 6pm, which is when they open. I hadn't been here since it changed from Pastiche, but had heard good things. The menu is really good and I chose the baked cauliflower, cheese & leek Wellington, which was served on a bed of buttered cabbage and was delicious. My... More

We have eaten here before and our dining experience was very good. We returned to celebrate a birthday and was disappointed in the service and the selection on the menu - it was bland and nothing special Service was average

The service was excellent, a young lad serving 23 in our party and he got it spot on, the food was good, the room was a little small trying to move around chatting with family members, but was a nice place to go.

Great local restaurant - best in lichfield for value for money. Always enjoy our meal whether it's 3-2-1 on Monday evening or Sunday lunch. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Had the cheeseboard today and it was excellent with a lovely home-made chutney. Thank you.

We visited Lichfield on a wet winter day & decided to give 1709 a try for lunch. Wow!!! 3 courses of excellent cuisine for less than a tenner. No wonder it was busy. Not that they could not cope, everything was served well without undue delay. There was an excellent choice of all 3 courses. Only fault was the wine.... More
