I visited 1709 on a Thursday night and while the town was quiet, there were a nice buzz in this small quaint restaurant. The set menu was resonably priced and so I went for calamari to start and then for sirloin streak with a blue cheese sauce. The calamari were a let down. Not because of taste or... read more

Highly recommend the restaurant as its great value! The food is to a high standard and the staff always make us feel very welcome. However it was very cold during our last visit, but we will still return!

I visited 1709 on Saturday lunchtime with a friend. The place has a lovely, friendly atmosphere. The staff are helpful and courteous. The menu has a good selection of interesting choices. I had a vegetarian starter of Staffordshire oatcake, followed by a superb cassoulet and then a delicious creme brûlée. Coffee followed - all for £15.00 a head which included... More

We had a day out in Lichfield and aimed to have lunch in the Brasserie based on the reviews here on TA (thank you!). We arrived about 12:10 without a reservation on a Thursday. Lucky, we got a table. Few minutes after our arrival, all the tables were occupied; looked like most if not all guests had reservation. The service... More

We have visited a number of times and always been very happy with the service and food. We went recently for Sunday lunch and found the staff friendly and helpful. Our only disappointment was some of the food which wasn't to,the normal standard.

This restaurant is simply one of the best value for money and quality food in the area. The menu is 2 or 3 courses for 16 pounds. This is true value and the staff are very friendly. The food is full of flavour and also full of taste. Finest ingredients and great ambiance. Will visit here again great selection of... More

Regular customers. Nice place. Attentive staff. Good food. Excellent value for money. Booking required to guarantee table as they get very busy. Try their pub/restaurant The Cornishman at Rugeley - probably the best Sunday lunch ever!!! Both highly recommended. Will visit again. Negative reviewers probably just want a discount - go to Wetherspoons!.

Lovely little independent restaurant near to the centre of Lichfield. Limited menu but still enough choice. Set menu of 2 courses was good value for £8.50. We had burger and chips which we thoroughly enjoyed and could easily have done without a dessert although we ended up having one as it was included in the price. The eton mess was... More

Visited midweek, quiet after the Xmas festivities. However the food was as always first class. Bread and olives with balsamic dip £2.50, exceptional value as a sharer whilst looking through menu. The bread was griddled which gave it a lovely taste and texture. Calamari and baked Brie wedges were ordered as starters, both were well presented and lovely tasting. Sirloin... More
