Another cracking meal at my local restaurant. Added another main to the set lunch menu and a fab bottle of super smooth rose. Pleasure as always Adam and Martine.

Booked as a treat for ourselves. We had Crab croquette and scallops with sole. It was all OK. Nothing remarkable. The front of house staff were professional but do not add anything to the experience. I guess we are used to a different standard. It...was all fine but just not anything to effuse about.... The desert menu was disappointing as 3 out of the 5 deserts were coffee based. Not for us. They need to think how they can wow their guestsMore

Living in London and spoilt for choice I have eaten in many expensive restaurants over the years but my experience last night was out of this world. The restaurant came highly recommended by a friend and it was clean and welcoming. I had the duo...seafood starter which was a good explosion in your mouth, sea bass which was so fresh served with potato and an array of perfectly cooked veg, followed by the passion fruit tart with coconut ice cream. It felt like I was dining at a friends house and not at a restaurant, the chef and owned Adam went out of his way to say hello to each and ever my diner despite the restaurant being so busy. I highly recommend and will return to Wells again for this very reason to dine at this establishment.More

Excellent lunch at the restaurant literally next door. Definitely still open and definitely on StcThomas Street now. Excellent mixture of sea food and flavours with a nice mixed crowd for a Friday lunchtime, cheers Adam.

Our first visit to Goodfellows since their move to 7B. We decided to go for dinner to celebrate our anniversary. For the first hour after arriving (and we didn’t get there when the restaurant opened) we were literally the only two diners. The dinner menu...was okay, different to that on the restaurant website (despite not being marked ‘sample menu’ online). I’m not entirely convinced that my dinner was gluten-free, despite very advanced notice by us. I suffered an horrendous coeliac/gluten reaction about 24 hours afterwards. The crème brûlée in a IKEA dog bowl, was delicious. The service was, a bit, absent. An email from us a few days before, just politely confirming that we would be there for dinner, met with no response. When seated in the restaurant we asked Martine (Adam Goodfellows wife, who works front-of-house) when the restaurant had moved and if they were doing okay. “Ugh, well” came the reply as she gestured towards the empty room with her eyes. One thing that I can never get over in restaurants is the way some waiting staff constantly have to bother you with “Everything okay?”. The small restaurant (max. 25 covers) is empty. We are eating, chatting, drinking, laughing. Yes, everything is okay. We don’t need to be bothered by bored staff. Even if such a small place was full, I’m sure we could get someone’s attention should we be sitting silently, not eating, not looking happy, because something is not okay. It just killed the whole experience. As a few more diners sat down I also noticed how the wine measuring seem to differ greatly between what we had paid for and were served and that being given (happily) to clearly regular customers. Hmm. I knew the service could be a bit surly from our dining experiences when Goodfellows were on Sadlers Street, it was disappointing to see that has continued at 7B. We’ll most likely give the restaurant another visit sometime, everyone deserves another chance. Maybe when they’re busier and the staff a bit more upbeat.More

This Restaurant is not closed and Adam and the team are serving up delicious food as always but now located at 7b St Thomas street in Wells. Great starter of Salmon Sashimi followed by Fillet steak, all fantastic, in a lovely intimate setting with the...kitchen and cooking all on show. There are only around 30 seats so booking essential and you won’t regret it.More

Just an amazing gastro experience. We visited last night to celebrate our 42nd Anniversary and were not disappointed. Everything from the welcome onwards was just perfect. The food is extremely fresh and exquisitely presented, the waiting staff were attentive, without being intrusive and very knowledgable...about their menu, even putting up with my partners “Witty” comments regarding the origin of the cheeses! The new location, just a short walk from Wells cathedral is clean, fresh and tastefully decorated, no annoying background music so conversation is easy. We cannot recommend this enough and we will certainly be back to try the tasting menu. Thank you for a wonderful evening.More

Enjoyed our evening here, the tuna sashimi was v tasty, quite a lot of soy sauce, I like spicy so wouldn’t have minded a touch of wasabi, loved the Chinese greens with it as well. Hot smoked salmon and smoked mackerel dish was okay. Salmon...with Teriyaki sauce was enjoyed and the scallop dish was amazing with the pomme purée and veg. Cappuccino ice cream was a bit bland, but the crème brûlée was nice. We will be back!!More

My daughter, 3 week old granddaughter and myself came her for Mothers Day lunch and wasn’t disappointed. My daughter had crab and salmon stater, while I had a crayfish cocktail. We both had the roast beef. Baby just slept through the whole experience without a...squeak. Nice to be able to see the well keep kitchen and the chefs working away. Highly recommend this place, staff, chef and food was amazing.More

Annual visit and just as good as ever!In a new location and you have to book. We had the 3 course set lunch £35 and it was superb. All the fish is freshly delivered from Brixham each day and beautifully cooked and presented.Wine also good.Neighbouring table...had the 5 course tasting menu and we could hear their chorus of approval. Just be aware this is exquisite food and not huge portions. Also the (delicious) fruit salad was supposed to be marinated in malibu and lime but maybe that distinctive white bottle never made it out of the stock room? An unforgettable experience andI cantMore

I am writing this review about the new Goodfellows at 7b in St Thomas Street, Wells (a short walk from their previous venue in Sadler Street). The new restaurant is lovely with a simple but sophisticated vibe and, with the kitchen on view, a real...chef's table feel to the place. We were a party of 3 and every dish we had from the 3 courses was outstanding. Beautiful flavours, excellent presentation and perfect amounts. Service was welcoming and professional. Absolutely faultless meal and we look forward to our next visit. IMHO this is the best restaurant in Wells and the wider area and I hope they do very well in their new location.More

We had the wild 🍄 soup and salmon and lemon sole terrine to start. Utterly delicious! For our mains we both had the partridge which again was Utterly delicious. Service was marvellous and the prices very reasonable given the quality of the cooking. Will definitely...return if we are ever in the area.More
