The Sheppey -rural bliss

Yummy food, good location, helpful staff. What more could you ask for from a country gastro-pub (awful term but it describes the Sheppey perfectly).

Great atmosphere with friendly approachable staff who made us feel really welcome. Starters really good, mains; vege burger very good, roasted peppers not so good, mainly because of too many different foods on one plate, (roasted peppers, ratatouille, chips, broccoli, asparagus, creamy mushroom sauce and a goats cheese) we were quite full so didn't stay for deserts and also because... After not having visited the Sheppey for about 5 years we stopped for lunch the other day and what a change! It was good before but the atmosphere, decor and food is fantastic as is the staff. Can't really say anything bad about it. If you are visiting the lowlands please go and see for yourselves, you will not be... More

Dined here with my wife and 17-year old daughter as part of an overnight stay next door at the Double-Gate Farm B&B following a visit to the West Country Game Fair. I've rated the experience a 4 overall however we would probably had rated the food a 3 on this occasion, predominantly because of my main course. All three of... More

Very welcoming, a lovely atmosphere, fantastic food. Full of unusual and wonderful drinks and artefacts. Great live acts and music. Buzzing with culture this is a must if you are near Glastonbury!

Was recommended by a friend for my girlfriend and myself. Staff are very welcoming and laid back. Food was amazing and beyond my expectation. Large selection of farmhouse ciders which Is what I like to see in this part of the country. Lovely decor as well. Only negative aspect was the toilets, but I wouldn't let that put you off.... More

Great food have eaten here on several occasions, but need to book ahead especially at weekends, best to phone pub direct. Quirky and eclectic interior can't wait for the warmer weather so we can sit outside next to the river

We've only just moved to the area, and have already heard so many good things about the Sheppey that we had to try it for ourselves. We both agreed that it exceeded our already high expectations! The warm, friendly atmosphere of the pub is perfectly mirrored by the delightful staff. The food was gorgeous - I started with the scallops... More

We loved this place everything about it was wonderful - the atmosphere, the staff and the food were all incredible. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone looking for something different. Very much worth the trip to godney. Felt like regulars despite it being our first time!! A must visit!!
