I not one to usually write a review on trip advisor but my partner and I had such a bad experience here. The food was a real let down. The cafe sells home made cakes so we thought the food would be locally sourced i.e. local bacon, sausages etc. My partner ordered a sausage baguette but when it arrived the... More

Thanks for your review, the content of which seem a little harsh. Especially as I find it quite odd with you sitting at the table next to the kitchen entrance that you or your partner decided that the best way to let us know that he was unhappy with his food and drink was by a review on tripadvisor when... Forgot to reference this cafe, from our previous, previous visit to Cheddar. We walked our dogs up the Gorge, and then came in for breakfast one morning last summer (2012). I had some vegetable (vegetarian) sausages which normally, I do not like, something leek and cheese possibly? I had the breakfast and it was delicious, not fatty, all grilled up... More

Nice little place. The cream teas were delicious but I wouldn't recommend the pasties, they seemed microwaved.

Thank you for your review, sorry to hear you did not like our pasties, especially as you can see from most of our reviews most people do, however we can assure you that our pasties are not microwaved. We are glad that you did enjoy your Cream Tea though! Hopefully that made your visit worth while. Hope to see you... More

Derricks tea room is my favourite place to go in Cheddar. I grew up in the area and my family live just down the road, so whenever I am back for a visit we go to Derricks for a cream tea. The scones are quite literally the best I've ever tasted, anywhere, and the menu has a lot of great... More

We visited Cheddar in mid-February and chose Derrick's Tea Rooms for our lunch. The food was expensive for what it was, and the vegetarian options very limited. Our first choice from the menu was not available and we found the food itself to be decidedly mediocre. Bizarrely, the waitress's demeanour betrayed abject fear. She must either have already seen a... More

Dear Prosaic Poet, Thank you for your review, we are sorry that your first choice from our menu was not available. We do try to keep everything available on our menu however this is unavoidable at times. We are very proud of the vegetarian options we offer and also believe that our prices are very affordable particularly for a tourist... More

We enjoyed our home made soup, warm home baked scones and loose leaf tea here yesterday, also the old-time music and vintage furniture and deco which all complemented each other well. The hot chocolate was good too.

Lovely little tea shop. Good choice of food available which was all delicious. Real tea in a tea pot with a strainer. Sign saying dogs welcome, but we didn't take in our exuberant 6 month old spaniel as it was a little crowded. Friendly waitress and prompt service.

Thanks for your review. We are glad you enjoyed your visit and of course our loose leaf tea. Maybe bring your spaniel in the summer and you can all go in the garden. Hope to see you again soon. Regards. Simon More

We never miss going to Derricks Tea Room when we visit Cheddar Gorge. The food is excellent and they serve real tea in tea pots with lovely china cups, such a treat. We can recommend everything there, but our favourites are the pasties, soup and cream teas, there is also a wonderful selection of homemade cakes. Simon and Bonnie are... More

My family and I had the most wonderful cream tea at Derrick's last week. The place itself is very cosy and was packed with people. Some were having lunch and others just tea and cakes. It was beautifully decorated for Halloween, which was a plus for the kids! Our cream teas were fantastic, and I have tried my fair share... More
