Situated next to the Theatre Royal in the centre of Bath, the Garrick's Head Pub and and Dining Room offers a delicious selection of locally inspired dishes. Using seasonal ingredients and making everything fresh on site the kitchen serves traditional pub dishes such as fresh cod in beer batter with triple cooked chips and "the best burger in Bath" to more complex creations, Venison steak with a mini cottage pie of venison or poached Guinea fowl with wild garlic both popular at the moment. The Garrick's Head is ideally situated for pre Theatre dining as it is directly next door to the theatre so you are only minutes from your seat. Often described as a country pub in the city centre the Garrick's Head has roaring fires, four real ales and over 50 whiskeys, very much a pub with a dining room there are also over 50 seats outside on the terrace, perfect for watching Baths beautiful people come and go.

Good food in a cosy atmosphere

Quality food with good portion sizes. The staff are welcoming and friendly. They only offer a few dishes but there was enough to choose from and the food they do offer is delicious. If you're looking for a cosy pub atmosphere with good food, I can recommend The Garricks Head.

This is a traditional style pub, with a great range of draft beers. We only stopped for a lunchtime drink but really enjoyed our relaxing break in the cozy bar.

Went for a pre-theatre menu meal on friday at 6pm and didnt get our main course until 7pm. the pub is next to the theatre and should know the times of the performances. ( 7.30!!)Very greasy fish swimming in butter and no time for a dessert. i have been to this pub pre theatre on many occasions but was shocked... More

The restaurant area is a bit scruffy, it's in need of a make over, so was not an auspicious start. The waitress though was friendly and welcoming. The menu was short-ish, varied, the mackerel starter was excellent, the burger was mixed - an excellent patty, a less good bun. It almost gets a very good, but needs tightening up and... More

Having worked up a hunger at the Thermae Baths we thought we'd give this a whirl at lunchtime on Friday, taking advantage of their £15 for 3 courses deal. It's a proper pub with atmosphere, all dark and tavernish, unspoilt by gastro-chic. We were by an open window, treated to the glorious hidden side of the window boxes, it felt... More

My wife and I happened upon this place when looking for somewhere to take our friends who were visiting from overseas. It didn't disappoint. We had a selection of lovely starters including heritage tomato salad, ham hock and scallops. For main courses we had sole and a local beef and ale pie. To go with this we had a bottle... More

Stopped here a couple of times en route to the theatre next door. They have a fine selection of local real ales and a good selection of reasonably priced wines. There is a lot of outdoor seating so it's especially nice at lunchtime in the summer. Today I had the burger - now I eat a lot of burgers -... More

This little pub provided excellent fish and chips. The bartenders helped me select a great beer on tap.

Visited the pub/restaurant on 11 June for dinner at 7pm. It was recommended by our B&B host for the exceptionally nice pub food. It is situated just beside the theater royal in Bath, at the lower part of Gay St. We had the pre theater dinner menu. Choose from 1, 2 or 3 courses. Both of us chose the 2... More

This is a formal restaurant attached to a pub. The dining room is intimate, simple and comfortable. The staff/service are great. Dinner was very good-- we chose from the 3-course, pre-theatre dinner menu. Tomato and goats' cheese salad was great and mains (fish of the day) and chicken) we're very good. Desserts were also good ---but we really didn't need... More
