This excellent family run restaurant is a cornerstone of the bath gastronomic scene (#4 in the UK from a Times poll) and has one of the best croissants I have ever tasted on their breakfast menu and is the firm favourite with my boys (who are excellent critics). I intend to make a concerted effort and visit here for lunch... More

We thougt this time the attention to the food was not that good as a few years ago, but still nice. For example: the nectarine and the mozzarella in the same named salad were 2 years ago a little grilled and now without preparation, Also good but the grilled tasted so much nicer...

We booked this restaurant on a friend's recommendation, and after a slow start, ended up having a thoroughly satisfying and enjoyable evening. We didn't realise at first that there was a basement dining room, and we were initially concerned that it might lack atmosphere, this did not turn out to be the case, after being seated it took a while... Fantastic restaurant - we were staying at the Queensberry Hotel and this is just a couple of minutes' walk away. Every dish was delicious and well presented, and the service was excellent. A real treat!

Happened by this great little foodie on our return from visiting Royal Crescent. Excellent coffee and cake together with a good feel.

I had lunch at the circus and despite their extremely tasty looking menu I opted for the 'fish of the day' and was delighted I did. Beautifully cooked fresh sea bass in a perfectly balanced sorrel, white wine and cream sauce accompanied by lovely fresh vegetables - delicious. I shall definitely be returning soon!

We were lucky to get a last minute booking here as we walked through Bath. A compact but great menu with excellent salads, main courses and desserts! The first time we've gone three courses for a while. Interesting wine list and brilliant service topped off a wonderful evening.

Relaxing and comfortable setting with excellent service; not over attentive but responsive and helpful. The ceviche of brill, a fish I’ve always loved but never eaten ‘uncooked’, was absolutely lovely: light, zingy sea fresh and of wonderful texture. 9/10 The main of Goat Curry was problematical. I’ve eaten goat curry in the Caribbean restaurants of The Black Country and at... More

I do appreciate your feedback and will act upon it. We do marinate the goat for 3 days (it's the Hugh Fearnely-Whittingstall recipe from his meat book) but I appreciate that each batch we make varies a bit and is dependent on quite a lot of factors so I'm really sorry that your batch did not live up to your... I visited The Circus with a friend,we were warmly greeted and seated downstairs in a relaxed and comfortable setting, The waitress was very friendly and attentive, I was tempted to try the goat curry, a meat I had never tried before and her personal recommendation was greatly appreciated. This lead to me ordering the goat and being completely blown away, it... Thank you so much for such a lovely review. As you see from the above review, not everyone has been quite so enthusiastic about the goat so I'm really glad you enjoyed it. As for the pink squirrel........!!! More

The best restaurant in Bath by far. I always end up eating here as nowhere else in Bath quite compares! Seasonal menu which changes monthly, creative dishes using the best local ingredients, very profesional and friendly staff. Make sure you book as it's very popular with both locals and visitors so does get busy!

Thank you for your kind words. Do keep returning it means such a lot to an independent restaurant like ours to have regulars. More
