Thank you Hope Pole for a fabulous Sunday lunch today - a party of 20 - all sat outside in the sun - top quality food from the clearly experienced kitchen team - and excellent and accommodating service - we live in Bath and this is certainly now on our favourites list.

Thank you very much for your wonderful review, Roger. We have a newly-assembled kitchen team, all joining us within the past month of this review. They are all very talented, ambitious and as you can tell, work extremely well together. The service is always important to us, too. You were served by the new Bath Ales Relief Manager called James,... More

A really nice Bath Ales pub located on the edge of the City of Bath, opposite Victoria Park. Well worth the walk from town - parking nearby can be more challenging! Have visited on a number of occaisions. The inside of the main pub isn't huge (although it does have a dining room in the former skittles alley at the... More

I visited this establishment on recommendation. Ordered drinks and tendered a Bank of Scotland note to be told that it was not acceptable on the instructions of their bank? Manager got involved and confirmed due to alleged forgeries he would not accept my LEGAL tender. Whilst trying to negotiate acceptance of my tender NO other British tender was checked for... More

Hello there Bob, As I mentioned to you when I spoke to you directly, I was warned by two separate members of staff at our local banking branch about forged Scottish bank notes. Again, as I told you, there are a much higher number of different designs for Scottish bank notes than any other. For the Bank of Scotland, there... More

Went here with the dog. We had great Bath Ales beer and cider. Lovely burgers, nice pub menu. Overall staff were friendly, one member of bar staff a little bit full of self importance - but overall a great experience and we have been back.

Many thanks for leaving this review for us - we're pleased you (and the pooch!) enjoyed your time with us. I am sorry that one member of staff came across as "a little bit full of self importance" though. The team are very well-grounded, likeable people and would never like to think of themselves as coming across in any way... More

Having become regular visitors to Bath, we decided to go back to The Hop Pole for lunch. It was a hot and noisy day in Bath, but peaceful and cool in The Hop Pole. My husband and father-in-law were very happy with the selection of drinks on offer (yay, Budweiser Budvar!). We all had sandwiches for lunch and they were... More

Regularly go to this pub for drinks and food and would normally highly recommend. Visited yesterday, ordered food at the bar - 5 minutes later, bar staff came over and told us that our food order would take at least an hour - didn't tell us when ordering! We had ordered the salmon pate and bread to share as a... More

Many thanks for leaving this review. The Hop Pole has the best atmosphere in Bath. The food is perfect, the drink is exceptional and the service is beyond compare. The beer garden is a small escape from city life. A treat. You should come here just for the general manager, he is one of a kind!!

I had a meal here with two others on a Sunday afternoon and sat in the garden for a drink initially which was gorgeous (the garden and the drink). Sat in the restaurant for a meal and the setting was very warm, cosy and nicely done. The waiter and bar staff were very friendly, professional and helpful. The roast potatoes... More

We sat outside in the garden which was nice, spacious, and our boys (4 and 1) were able to run around a bit. The staff was friendly and helpful.
