Food won't blow you away but garden is absolutely worth a visit

We've been to the Hop Pole before on a visit to Bath and when the sun came out on a Friday afternoon it was our first choice for lunch and a place to sit and read the newspaper. We had the cheese baguette which was really good, plus the muscles with sides of onion rings and chips. All of it... read more

We went for a late Sunday lunch while visiting Bath as the reviews on TripAdvisor were very good but unfortunately were very disappointed. The menu was rather limited and we couldn't get a burger as they only serve them on selected days of the week. We went for Sunday roast instead but that was not a good choice... Meat was... More

Great service, delicious fresh food. Quiet surroundings, clean and tidy. Lovely varied menu, reasonably priced. Mark the manager was a great host. What a lovely place to celebrate our daughters graduation from Bath Spa University. Thanks to you all. Would definitely recommend.

Stopped into the pub whilst driving through Bath, and it was definitely worth it. Pub offers great specials each day, and the food tastes fantastic - great hearty food, which is what you want in a pub meal. Staff were friendly and helped us pick a local beer off tap that went with our meal. Great beer garden out the... More

We had our first meal in Bath at the Hop Pole since we were staying nearby and the owner of our place recommended it. It was so good we ate there twice over four days. After we ordered and got our drinks, we sat down in their very nice garden patio in the back with our dog. The weather was... More

I attended the restaurant with a group of friends and it was simply sublime, a quirkly layout over several levels, and an old rustic feel. The staff were friendly and super efficient, the food was simply perfect and well priced, its located a little way out of town, and I have eaten in Bath many many times, although I live... More

Good music, great beer and superb food. Dog friendly, let our 11 month old pup into the bar area. Very reasonably priced, £20.50 for 3 lunchtime meals. Looking for a great spot in Bath for a beautiful pint and some great food, this is a must.

I have been going to The Hop Pole for 2 years for a couple of lunchtime pints at the weekend, but prices have crept up with alarming regularity. On Saturday I was charged £6.30 for one pint of lager and a bag of pork scratchings. With those kind of extortionate prices they clearly want to clear the pub of punters... More

Thank you for taking the time out to post this feedback for us. I do feel downhearted to read it after serving you this Saturday afternoon. When you ordered the pork scratchings, I explained to you that we had recently changed our choice of pork scratchings to Mr. Trotters. These are triple cooked and come in more than double the... On a stop over in Bath this pub was just over the way from my hotel. Popped in for a dinner and as it was Sunday they had roast on. I am GF but they presented a wonderful pork diiner at a very reasonable price. Crackling perfect a loads of veg. Great cider as well. Nice place would go again!

Thank you very much for your kind review, it's great to read that you had such a good time on your visit with us. Our chefs work tremendously hard to put together a great Sunday roast and it will be great to pass on such acclaim to them! Many thanks again, and if you ever visit again we'd love to... More
