Just what I needed, a good home cooked meal with real food! Very hard to get when you are travelling. My husband had the roast pork and I asked if they could me up a plate of roasted veges and greens with no meat (vegetarian ), the chef very easily obliged! And it was wonderful! Thank you.

Earlier in the evening we had tried to get a table at the Crystal Palace in Bath town centre. What a dirty disaster that was (read my other review). However, we read reviews about The Hop Pole and decided to give it a try. I am thankful we decided to do just that! It is a bit of a walk... More

Went for Sunday lunch, our waiter was very friendly and took our order quickly. However we then had to wait nearly an hour and a half for lunch to arrive. It was nice when we got it but the wait was far too long, we had 3 young children with us and it was not fun trying to keep them... More

Many thanks for taking the time out to post some feedback for us, JoAcqua. On the Sunday in question, we did experience an extremely busy lunchtime - twinned with this the fact we cook all of our fresh food to order instead of preparing it beforehand and simply re-heating, this will always extend a waiting time for food to be... We were only visiting Bath for the day but made a special excursion to this pub for lunch on a sunny afternoon and we certainly weren't disappointed. It seems that the Hop Pole is considered to have the best beer garden of any pub in the centre of Bath and we wouldn't disagree with this on the evidence of our... More

Introduced to The Hop Pole by Rick Steve's tour. Our large group was served quickly and efficiently with a great tasting meal and several beers of varying strengths and tastes.

We ate here last night and had such a wonderful evening. It started when Dennis showed us to our table and we had a laugh that set the scene for the rest of the evening. We had wine with our meal that was chilled and very good. Then the food arrived, amazing. There were four of us and all our... More

A wet early August day meant we ate inside and not in the small but cosy looking garden room at the rear. The beer and wines were of the usual great standard you come to expect of a Bath ales establishment . We ordered the fish and chips and the Gammon. The food was very good, service was quick and... Great Food, Superb Ale. Friendly Welcoming Atmosphere. What else do you want???? Weekday evenings I have found The Hop Pole full of students. Nothing wrong with that. I just prefer a little quieter. Excellent menu, traditional food and a good selection of Ale's to whet you're tonsil's. Well worth dropping in if you are out that way. I'll be back.
