The Hop Pole is a comfortable, spacious and friendly pub serving good food and top-notch beer. During summer months and periods of fine weather, the garden comes into its own and is the perfect place for mellow afternoon quaffing.Situated opposite Victoria Park, The Hop Pole is welcoming to all, including well-behaved children and dogs alike. It is a must-visit for anyone who enjoys fine food accompanied by equally enjoyable cask ales, or wine from a selection designed to suit all tastes (and all pockets!).

It's great to hear you managed to find us in the end! I'm thrilled to hear everything we had to offer was to your liking - it will be a pleasure to pass this praise on to the rest of the team. We do have some very interesting and varied wine list, so it's no surprise we managed to find... More

We came to The Hop Pole after seeing that it welcomed dogs. We found a gorgeous little hidden gem. The food is delicious the service is spot on and you receive a warm welcome. Our puppy was able to sit with us quite nicely and was the centre of attention. We will definitely be visiting multiple times in the future.

Every visit to Bath seems to involve a pleasant walk through the park to this modern yet cosy pub. On a freezing february day the mussels in a chorizo broth were an ideal way to warm up. ( The delicious festivity porter ale helped too! ). Very friendly and helpful staff are the norm in this place.

We stumbled across The Hop Pole when visiting Bath and what a great find. We had Sunday lunch which was freshly prepared, staff were very helpful even thought it was very busy. A very cosy place just what you need on a chilly December shopping trip.

The Hop Pole is a little way out the city centre. On a Sunday (especially after a chilling couple of hours on the Bath Skyline Walk) we were grateful for the free on-street parking opposite the pub! The pub is pretty, split into old-fashioned and cosy sections. We warmed up with a delicious mulled wine and a more average hot... More

This is a small pub tucked away on the outskirts of Bath. They have a fairly wide ranging menu although the vegetarian options weren't great. The waitress was lovely and friendly with a ready laugh. The food, when it came was absolutely delicious, we had 4 of the items on the menu and none were disappointing.

Many thanks for writing us a lovely review, Kerry! It's great to read (and pass on) such feedback. We will be launching a new menu in the very near future, so will be worth checking that out for exciting new dishes (and plenty of vegetarian options!). The waitress who looked after you was Claudia - her lovely nature certainly makes... More

Headed to hop pole after a bracing 1/2 hour in Victoria parks children's playground. It was busy but the staff were really friendly, eager to help and the food was really tasty. They weren't (obviously) bothered by our continually escaping two year old who was perpetually getting in their way. Very impressed.

Thank you very much for your kind words, Caroline - we're all thrilled you enjoyed your time with us! We know how difficult it can be to contain a two year old's excitement, so we have a lot of patience when looking after the little ones. We hope it's not too long before we see you once more. More

We had planned to go elsewhere, but our guest had neglected to check whether they were serving food New Year's Eve lunchtime (she's friendly with the proprietor) and they weren't, so the Hop Pole was a hastily-arranged Plan B; turned out nice again, as a philosopher once said. Moby & I both had spiced pumpkin soup followed by fishcakes, and... More

Thank you very much for your lovely words - they are very much appreciated and we're thrilled a good time was had by one and all. The 2 Course for £10 menu you dined from is certainly a bargain with no compromise on quality, ensuring you get more 'bang for your buck', so to speak. I'm pleased you had the... More

I chose here on the basis of the good reviews. This was for a family get-together where my family had travelled from Spain, Norway, Scotland (and me, London) to meet up and experience the Christmas markets. Even though I knew it was slightly out of town, I thought it'd be worth the trip given all the good reviews. Like some... More

I can only apologise for your poor visit here, Pequenamujer. We aim to please everybody who walks through the door and it does upset us to learn if somebody hasn't enjoyed their time with us.
