Disappointing meal. I doubt if the kilted chef himself was in the kitchen the evening I visited the Bath basement restaurant. This was to be a birthday treat, I didn’t know the restaurant as I don’t live in Bath but the interesting menu promised great things. The resulting meal was a victory for style over substance. The description and ingredients... More

Booked a table here for a weekend away in Bath based on previous reviews and wasn't disappointed - service was excellent and food was delicious. Nice to go somewhere independent and interesting - was spoilt for choice menu-wise and we were really well looked after during our meal. Only a few other tables during our visit, but it made for... I dined here recently on recommendation for a business lunch. I couldn't have been more impressed, more importantly neither could my associate. We were well looked after by a young but professional waiter, with nothing being too much trouble. Presented with perfection and a exemplary combination of seasonal flavours, our lunch was thoroughly enjoyed. (I had the Spiedini of Tiger... More

A group of us dined here a while ago and had high expectations after reading the menu. Although it wasn't terrible it did lack in certain areas. The service was hit and miss, with the odd things like not being able to have coffee at the end and the toilets being a bit of a mess adding to the disappointment.... More

I found the Kilted Chef by chance on the internet and boy were we glad we did. The service and food was amazing. The staff were among the most attentive we have ever had, in particular the maître d' who went out of his way to ensure that my wife and I had a very special anniversary night. We couldn't... More

Had a fantastic evening at The Kilted Chef last night for our anniversary. Dougie, the kilted chef himself, made us a special array of desserts as a surprise. They were stunning. I started with Lemongrass and tarragon fish cakes and my husband had the Stir fry of Somerset pork marinated in hoisin, ginger and chilli. Both starters were excellent. The... More

I dined at the kilted chef on Saturday last, the place was without any ambience whatsoever, better atmospheres in a dentists waiting room! Waited for almost half an hour untill we were given a menu. I chose the lamb dish, with an oxtail and kidney accompaniment, this was so over seasoned, I could only assume the chef had either been... More

The review before yours has been left by a diner on the same night and their experience was "perfect"! It just goes to show how subjective the whole experience of eating out can be! I am sorry that you did not enjoy your evening with us. For someone who dines at many of the countries top restaurants I am surprised... More

We came away for a weekend in bath and found the restaurant on trip advisor. The staff were children who didn't have a clue about the food they were serving, or how to look after there customers. We were left and never asked was our meal ok. The food wasn't fantastic the lamb over done and to heavily seasoned. The... More

Thank you for your comments. You're observations are correct we do have a young member of staff who is part of our team. Regardless of age, colour or creed, we believe that if someone shows a commitment and willingness to learn then they deserve a fair chance. It is difficult enough as it is to build a young person's confidence... More

The Kilted Chef is only two minutes from Theatre Royal and combined with trip to theatre completed a lovely day out. Pre theatre menu was interesting and good value. Enjoyed the mussels and pasta starter dish. Service was good. Found the repetitive background Kenny Gee music started to get on my nerves but other than that found atmosphere good ..... More

We appreciate you taking the time to leave us your review not only on TripAdvisor but also on Twitter as well!
