Third lunch at MGJ - slightly dearer each time, but God, is it worth every penny! This was a sublime dining experience. Focus on the food, not the setting - Jones's food makes it hard not to. Now he is the master of the tasting menu for 12 lucky covers it cannot be long before chef patron Jones moves onwards... More

This was nothing short of incredible. I have visited some of the most celebrated restaurants around but this was up there with the Ritz, The Ivy, etc. Its was a visual feast and taste experience, up there with the very best. When we visited (which took about 6 months before finally getting a table) this restaurant hadn't been awarded a... More

Wow! This is really not a restaurant....it is more aligned with a culinary experience like you have never had before. The wine pairing with dinner was absolutely fantastic. The individual who described all the various wines was so informative. The food was delicious. All of the various flavors and textures were truly remarkable. Yes, it is expensive, but it is... More

My husband and I had lunch here as part of my extended 50th Birthday celebrations in Bath. Attentive staff, knowledgeable sommelier, innovative food and excellent accompanying wine flight. So nice to have this level of food without the usual high class restaurant stuffiness. I thought Petrus was my favourite restaurant until I ate at MGJ, but not now! Definitely on... More

My husband dropped in when walking past after lunch and managed to get a cancellation for the same evening, so a lovely surprise because we thought we would have to book weeks in advance. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Because there is no menu and our waiter was very softly spoken we weren't always sure what we were eating, but... More

When I was a kid we used to pass the building that now houses this little restaurant so many times on our way into Bath. Almost 30 years later it's lovely that the Bear Flat now has such a great restaurant. The very unusual aspect of this place is that there is no choice about what you get to eat.... More

We decided to revisit MGJ as our first taste was so good, we booked the week in advance for lunch on a Saturday and were again bowled over by the use of ingredients and flavours. This is an experience you should try if you enjoy being adventurous with your food, excellent value for such a high quality meal.

No menu, but who needs it when amazing food is served? Have visited here twice and both meals were a wonderful mixture of exquisite tastes. On both occasions we have tried something new eg taster size belly of veal in a light batter or sweetcorn sorbet. There are 7 courses to the meal and just the correct portion size so... More

We ate here back in May but I forgot to review it so specifics on what we ate are a bit hazy but I remember excellent food, there is no choice so all may not be what you would normally eat but go with it you won't be disappointed

A really interesting and enjoyable experience, not one to go on spec as understandably the number of covers are limited so booking is needed. Also you need to pre-advise any allergies as Chef Gordon has to be able to plan the courses and you don't get to choose your own.
