Description: The Salamander is great city-centre pub with none of the social stigma attached to some of the bars in Bath. ‘The Sally’ serves good food and a fine choice of beers from Bath Ales and beyond, and welcomes a friendly, eclectic audience. It’s small, it’s snug but it’s oh so special! The Salamander is tucked neatly away just off Queen Square in the heart of the Georgian city of Bath. Historically a ‘steak and chop house’, it now consists of a wonderfully simple bar on the ground floor and an impressive dining room complete with galley kitchen upstairs.Using the finest produce from local suppliers, ‘The Sally’ is renowned for its imaginative and varied menu, available both downstairs in the bar and upstairs.

Visited on a quiet afternoon, having heard good things about Bath Ales. We weren't disappointed, decent beer, and very knowledgeable staff (James). Excellent all round.

I have visited The Salamander on three visits to Bath and my only regret is that I have not yet eaten there. As a place for a drink it is terrific whether you are an ale lover (like me) or after something different. The range is excellent, service swift and atmosphere very congenial. Love it.

Lives up to the hype. Came here attracted by the windows. Had an ale and it was pretty darn good. Its a very easy atmosphere and i feel like ive accidentally stumbled on something quite special. Going for another right now.

We originally headed to the Salamander after hearing about their good ales. We ended up eating in the restaurant and had wonderful meal. Not the average pub grub!

Food excellent, service excellent, atmosphere excellent. In the center of Bath this is a little gem of a pub...well worth searching out. Best Sunday Roast in town and you can't beat their home-made Lemon Curd Cheesecake!

We came down to Bath to watch the Leicester Tigers play Rugby but sadly only Bath turned up! after some liquid refreshment, we ended up drifting pretty aimlessly around the city centre trying to remember the name of the restaurant I had reviewed on Tripadvisor. And Lo we got to the Salamander almost with the aid of divine intervention (well... More

Initially called in just to have a couple of beers but having studied the menu we decided to dine in the upstairs restaurant. Both the beer and the food were excellent, as were the friendly staff both in the bar and the restaurant. We had chosen Bath as a stopover on route to Cornwall and will definitely visit both the... This is both a gastro pub and a drinkers pub. There are not so many left that mix the two roles succesfully. Bath ales have some quality products. The staffare polite and prompt. The space is limited but the atmosphere friendly. if you are after a decent pub in and English pub without affectation and gimmicks, a comfy stool or... More
