Description: The Salamander is great city-centre pub with none of the social stigma...
The Salamander is great city-centre pub with none of the social stigma attached to some of the bars in Bath. ‘The Sally’ serves good food and a fine choice of beers from Bath Ales and beyond, and welcomes a friendly, eclectic audience. It’s small, it’s snug but it’s oh so special! The Salamander is tucked neatly away just off Queen Square in the heart of the Georgian city of Bath. Historically a ‘steak and chop house’, it now consists of a wonderfully simple bar on the ground floor and an impressive dining room complete with galley kitchen upstairs.Using the finest produce from local suppliers, ‘The Sally’ is renowned for its imaginative and varied menu, available both downstairs in the bar and upstairs.

A gem of a pub!

The range of beers ... wonderful, the food is fabulous especially the Sunday roasts. It is a cosy, very relaxing bar for a lovely romantic evening or after shopping for lunch and Prosecco. Best of all it is THE place to be pre rugby matches, such a great atmosphere. One of my very favourite pubs... read more

Not that I am a regular but I visit this place quite often and it never disappoints. Bath Ales certainly deserve their credit but there is a little beer treat you never expect to find in an English pub specialising in local ales - Steen Brugge, a proper Belgian beer. And, just by coincidence, I am Belgian too who loves... More

Husband and son are fans of Bath Ales so this was an ideal choice for a meal. Excellent food and service coupled with good beer and a very nice glass of NZ Sauvingon Blanc.

Perfect for the Bath Ale fan. I have eaten here before also and it is well worth a trip. Close to the Raven so you can flit between the two.

Visited Saturday lunchtime prior to the Rugby! Delicious Welsh rarebit, onion rings and hand cut chips devoured with a well kept pint of Bath Gem to wash it down! Good bit of rugby banter! The Salamander is one of my favourite pubs to visit when in Bath!

Great service, good wine list, decent ales, great fish and chips. Only slight downer was that for Londoners it was a bit quiet

Came here whilst on a works course with colleagues after being recommended by the staff at the hotel I was staying at. Really can't complain, the local Bath Ales served were very nice, the menu comfortably had enough food to pick from and it was very reasonably priced with great quality food. £78 for 3 starters, mains, side orders and... I have been to The Salamander several times, both to eat and for a drink. The staff have always been extremely helpful and friendly and the atmosphere is very cosy. And the food is delicious and very reasonably priced! The service is good and the staff always smiling. If you want delicious food (I'd particularly recommend the roast) and a... More

This is a place that I visit every time I am in Bath and it never disappoints. In some ways it is nothing special, just a quietism place for a pint while I read the paper or wait while my partner is shopping. But there is something extra special about the place that is hard to explain - just amazing... More

Wonderful pub classics, and always tasty. I've eaten here a number of times, its generally pretty quiet but the food is fantastic and reasonably priced. Worth a visit.
