Situated in a unique Grade II listed Georgian building in the heart of Bath, Gascoyne Place has enjoyed many awards and plaudits since opening in 1996. Five distinct spaces (from a traditional pub-like corner snug to elegant Georgian dining rooms) could be your setting in which to indulge in a modern British menu that only uses fresh ingredients, obtained through close links with local farms and fisheries. Located 20 metres from Bath's Theatre Royal, and overlooking Sawclose Piazza, Gascoyne Place suits pre or post theatre wining and dining marvellously, though not to be outdone, the restaurant hosts its own entertainment with live complimentary jazz sessions from 8.00 Every Sunday and live blues every Friday evening.

We came here on a Saturday night during a live band performing. So it was hard to hear one another talk but the food was delicious. I had the venison. It was cooked perfectly. It was mouth wateringly good.

We have now been back to Gascoyne Place for a fourth visit. Perfect for a pre-theatre meal, with welcoming and very pleasant staff. We were able to get a table for two without booking for a Saturday lunchtime, which was surprising. The room is light and spacious enough not to feel crammed in. Very good choice of menu and well... Had the pre-theatre set menu. The food was ok but was let down by the fact I found large bone bits in my starter of ham hock fritter. I raised this with the waiter and they apologised. The main for me was much better I had traditional fish & chips. The batter was nice and light.

Excellent hosting by the lovely staff. They catered perfectly to my vegan friend's dietary requirements, and even creates a new non alcoholic cocktail too! They coped with our large party (8 loud ladies!) and delivered quality tasty food to our table without fault. The food was delicious, and I can recommend the lamb personally. The cheeseboard is brilliant too. A... More

We were going to the theatre and were amazed to get a table in this bar, it un-nerved us slightly as it was close to the theatre yet fairly quiet. There was a good choice on the menu and it was proper pub food, excellent service, staff were pleasant and friendly. A great choice for pre-theatre dinner.

My boyfriend and I went to Gascoyne on Valentine's day and it was everything really good. The atmosphere was romantic, all the staff service was excellent and the food was delicious. They created a different menu for Valentine's day but we ended up trying meals from the normal menu, which was a good decision.

Dropped in on the off chance last Saturday for lunch. One of the friendliest places I've visited in a long time. Great food, great service. Will return again.

Went out for a meal with 3 old uni friends and stumbled across this place beside the theatre. All of us opted for the beef after sharing some grazing boards to share. The food was sublime. My mate milo even said it was the best meal he has had in years. 20+ red and white wines on offer. We went... More
