Description: Situated in a unique Grade II listed Georgian building in the heart of Bath, Gascoyne Place has enjoyed many awards and plaudits since opening in 1996. Five distinct spaces (from a traditional pub-like corner snug to elegant Georgian dining rooms) could be your setting in which to indulge in a modern British menu that only uses fresh ingredients, obtained through close links with local farms and fisheries. Located 20 metres from Bath's Theatre Royal, and overlooking Sawclose Piazza, Gascoyne Place suits pre or post theatre wining and dining marvellously, though not to be outdone, the restaurant hosts its own entertainment with live complimentary jazz sessions from 8.00 Every Sunday and live blues every Friday evening.

Considering we had booked a table on one of the busiest nights of the year the last Friday before Christmas we were shown to a quiet and cosy area of the restaurant upstairs. The whole evening was lovely..starting with a yummy glass of Prosecco and finishing with an Elderflower dessert wine! The staff were extremely friendly and attentive. I had... More

First floor private room with lovely round table to accommodate 12 guests. Great selection of pre-selected menu choices - Smoked Salmon with pickled cucumber and horseradish - beautifully presented, Loin of Venison was lovely and a stunning individual Vanilla Rice Pudding with hazelnut crumble topping. Very friendly and helpful service and impressive first visit. Will certainly be back.

I was impressed by this place. The food was really well prepared and the service was good. For a quick lunch it's worth a visit. The only criticism was a very friendly waiter trying to up sell everything ! If I want a large wine, a starter, a pudding or a coffee I will ask for one!

I came here for lunch in December while visiting the Christmas markets. I'd recommend getting here early or booking beforehand as we went at 12 when it opened and 20 mins later people were being turned away as there was no more room. The staff were immediately welcoming, happy and helpful. They offered a smaller version of the main menu... More

We dined here on Friday 5th December on a weekend visit to Bath for Christmas shopping. The staff really couldn't do enough for us, the food was outstanding and the waiter recommended a wine that was out of this world (well done Gavin!). It is the 3rd year running that we have eaten here and we will definitely do so... More

We booked Gascoyne Place for dinner several weeks before a weekend trip to Bath. We were encouraged by reviews on tripadvisor and the restaurant's website, which listed an interesting menu. However, we found the whole experience to be very disappointing. Firstly, upon arrival we were around half an hour early, and wanted to have a drink in the bar before... More

I have to say that the food and the service from the friendly waitresses was great. However, even though we booked a family birthday meal a couple of weeks in advance, when we arrived there was no table for us, they had apparently given it to someone else, and we were forced to go upstairs and were given a table... We ate at Gascoyne Place as recommended by a friend. The food was exceptionally well cooked and very tasty. The wine was well priced per bottle and per glass. Although the food and service were excellent, the surrounding of this pub were a bit of a let down. We would return but this would be at a Iunchtime rather than... More
