Situated in a unique Grade II listed Georgian building in the heart of Bath, Gascoyne Place has enjoyed many awards and plaudits since opening in 1996. Five distinct spaces (from a traditional pub-like corner snug to elegant Georgian dining rooms) could be your setting in which to indulge in a modern British menu that only uses fresh ingredients, obtained through close links with local farms and fisheries. Located 20 metres from Bath's Theatre Royal, and overlooking Sawclose Piazza, Gascoyne Place suits pre or post theatre wining and dining marvellously, though not to be outdone, the restaurant hosts its own entertainment with live complimentary jazz sessions from 8.00 Every Sunday and live blues every Friday evening.

A pre-theatre treat.

Just a few yards from the theatre, we had a lovely dinner. Not just ordinary fish and chips but something special. Their haddock was gorgeous & triple cooked chips were delicious. The staff were very nice too. We will definitely go again & recommend,

We booked a table prior to going to the theatre across the road. We were expected and shown into a room with just one other couple, and rather loud music which they were in the process of complaining about. Room is rather dark so had to read menu by manoeuvring around a candle. We chose potato and leak soup, followed... More

Dined here with friends on a Saturday evening in late January. We found the menu a little limited and the starter of a slice of chargrilled chibata with oil and pesto poor value at £4.50. In general the food was acceptable but not particularly exciting.

My girlfriend and I visited Gascoyne Place for dinner as a precursor for a night of cocktails and fun. On arrival, the staff were clearly not quite sure if we had a reservation or not. Having clarified we did, we were shown to our table and then largely ignored for 15 min. Having managed to order, food then took an... More

My wife and I enjoyed a quiet early dinner one of the nights we were in Bath. Had the dining room to ourselves but enjoyed the quiet atmosphere. Despite being quiet, the staff was attentive. Enjoyed some delicious dinner specials the night we were there. Found the food and value to be great. We'd recommend checking it out if you're... More

We came in for lunch and were really disappointed. The room at the back of the restaurant has no character at all, bit like a tea room. The menu was pretty uninspiring. We ordered a beef burger and a salmon ciabatta, it took over 20 minutes to arrive. The beef burger was so gamey it was inedible, I sent it... More

2 course set meal for £14.50 is great value (3 course for £19). We prefer going out for lunch where portion sizes are modest and service prompt - we were not disappointed. The 2 cocktails for £12 was enticing- had an enjoyable espresso martini. For entree, we had Ricotta Arrancini, Baked Beetroot & Sugared Walnut, English Apple, with Honey &... More

My fiancé and I went to bath this weekend and decided to go to Gascoyne place for the evening and we are so glad we did. I had the fish and chips and my partner had the steak, both of which were superb. The service was fantastic, but the live music from the jazz trio was even better. Brilliant evening,... More
