Description: Situated in a unique Grade II listed Georgian building in the heart of Bath, Gascoyne Place has enjoyed many awards and plaudits since opening in 1996. Five distinct spaces (from a traditional pub-like corner snug to elegant Georgian dining rooms) could be your setting in which to indulge in a modern British menu that only uses fresh ingredients, obtained through close links with local farms and fisheries. Located 20 metres from Bath’s Theatre Royal, and overlooking Sawclose Piazza, Gascoyne Place suits pre or post theatre wining and dining marvellously, though not to be outdone, the restaurant hosts its own entertainment with live free jazz sessions from 8.00 every Sunday.

I keep coming back here as the food is so consistently great. Last night they catered for my party of twelve brilliantly, both in terms of the excellence of cooking/presentation and efficient service. I started with a sublime goats cheese mouse paired with salt baked beetroot and candied nuts, followed by my favourite, traditional fish and chips. They use beautiful... More

Called in for a late lunch whilst visiting family in Bath. It was quiet, we sat in the window watching the world go by. Good choice on menu reasonably priced, something to suit everyone. We went for the two courses at £14.50 each, I loved the vege option, showed a bit of imagination and not the usual vege lasagne! Wonderful lemon... More

We went for dinner last night because of the live jazz. Outside it looks like an old pub that I wouldn't normally give a second glance to, but inside it was lovely. The food was excellent, both in taste and presentation. We both made changes to our chosen dish which the staff dealt with quickly without a murmer. The ambience... More

Really loved the jazz here on Sunday nights, a nice touch, it was busy, friendly and attentive service, food here was ok, had a decent sea bream, problem was they made a few mistakes, they forgot fries we ordered, which is no major deal, but most importantly they forgot to tell us that duck main dish that my partner ate... We came here for our second evening meal, whilst on a two-night stay in Bath and absolutely loved it! Our first night was meant to be in a 'posher', Michelin-recommended place, but Gascoyne's far outdid them on service, attention to detail and overall friendliness and atmosphere. The food was delicious as well. We'd ordered a platter to share, because we... More

Party of 3 including child at lunch time. 2 or 3 course fixed price menu (£14.50/£19) was great value with a wide choice. High quality cooking and generously portioned. Service was friendly and efficient. Highly recommended and will definitely return when next in Bath.

We are regulars at Gascoyne Place, and whether I am with friends, family, solo or special occasion it never lets me down. The canapés at a special occasion are the best I have had anywhere in the world. Well done!!!!!!

Yet again, another fantastic Sunday Lunch. Probably the best you will get anywhere, certainly the best in Bath. Perfect beef, fresh veg & very friendly staff. We will make this a regular haunt from now on. Would not even consider going anywhere else in Bath for Sunday lunch. My compliments to the chef & all the staff.

After doing a little search for "the best roast in Bath", I came across Gascoyne Place, and the reviews were completely true. We turned up for a late lunch/early dinner, and were just in time for the end of the lunch service - normally a very bad thing when it comes to roast dinners! But not in this case. Despite... More

Sunday night dinner in the lounge with live jazz. The welcome we received from Craig, when we walked in the door, told us we had picked well. All the staff were friendly, attentive & great at their job. The vibe was friendly & the food was good, with generous portions. Definately would go back.
