Came to Bath for a weekend visit and chose this restaurant on the recommendation of the Hardens website. The ratings on that site undersold the simple delicious trench food available here. We had 4/5 dishes and all of them were superb. Not a moral was left on any plate. In a word this place is a delight.

Went to Bath with my Mum last weekend and came across this lovely little bistro. We went for the lunchtime set menu which was an absolute bargain and delicious too. Lovely ambience inside, authenic food and Michel the owner was lovely. Would definately recommend it and will return on my next visit to that lovely city.

I took my family (including three 12 year olds) as we were visiting Bath for a couple of days. It is a little jewel. It shows that you don't need to go to a "fine dining" restaurant to get great French cooking. The kids wolfed everything down. Particularly popular was the Duck confit gratinee, a seafood pancake and the creme... More

When we were down in Bath for the day, we referred to the Holy Bible of recommendation...that is Trip Advisor...Bistrot La Barrique was in Top 10 in comparison to now. Anyway....we entered the Restaurant, the place is small...but cosy...and though we were probably the first customers we were made very welcome by the Waitress/Owners daughter?! To be true i don't... We went for dinner for a double birthday in the family and enjoyed a pleasant night out. The little plates are a good idea - a sort of French tapas. My advice is do not do as we did which was to order enough dishes for everyone and share them around. Two main reasons - the resulting portions are not... More

A friend and I came here for lunch one day and enjoyed the lunch special which was 2 courses and a side for 9.95. The portions were small but I still thought it was worth the price as you get two of them and they were delicious! We also enjoyed the nice staff and quiet atmosphere.

We were trying to find something out of the ordinary in Bath at lunchtime, and this little restaurant was exactly what we were looking for! The food was delicious and the patron was welcoming, attentive and friendly. We needed some guidance on what to order as the menu consisted of "little plates" (a French style Tapas menu), and the patron... More

There are places like this all over France - or at least there used to be. This is, I think, the owner's attempt to re-create a bistro as they were in his youth, where the emphasis is on the cooking rather than the decor, and the wine list impresses with its affordable excellence. The idea of 'petit plats' - half-sized... More

5 friends did a pre theatre dinner. We ate from the petit plats menu which had vegetarian, meat and fish choices - 2 plates and 1 side for £25. Excellent value - or you could add another meat plate from the menu du jour for an extra £1.50. An extensive wine list with many choices served by the glass. Service... More

We had a pre theatre family meal here and found the food very average and all a bit old fashioned. No wow factor at all, service was fast but a bit too efficient and rough around the edges. Very 'Bath'
