Super meal, great staff

We ate here in the evening - It's French cuisine, but done Tapas style. The seafood risotto and the seafood "pancake" were particularly good. The snails were a bit over spiced, but the liver was fantastic. Our server, Anna, was lovely. Heed her advice about the number of portions to order... read more

I did not want much more than a light snack and this restaurant fitted the bill. I had a small plate of duck confit with a mashed potato and cheese top and mixed salad for just over £10. Much better than a sandwich!

This looks nothing from the outside - outdated and a little shabby. However, inside the bistro looks much better and it has a very pretty garden. Particularly charming service and excellent value for two small plates and a side dish - nice sea bass, chicken not so good - smothered in mustard sauce and a reasonable tomato salad. A good... Being French we wanted to avoid French food while spending the week-end in Bath, and we ended up at the Bistro La Barrique... Did not regret it : really good food, mainly traditionnal French dishes, served in tapas-size plates. You have to order 2/3 dishes per person which allows you to discover different tastes. Good choice of wine. Great service... More

We arrived early on a Thursday evening; the place was almost empty. Guided by the server, we ordered 500 mL each of the house red and white wines, and six small plates (including bread and salad). The wine arrived... ...and we waited... I asked for the bread to cushion the wine a bit. Nothing happened. We waited... Then, WHUMP! Six... More

A great change of eating experience with a good choice of small dishes. The pre-theatre menu at £12.95 (add £1.70 if you choose one of the fish or meat specials) represents great value for a couple of mains and a side dish. If you're looking for a great tasting meal, not too heavy, great value and with swift service so... More

Fine French cuisine offered in customizable fashion. The concept of "petite plats" allows you to order several "small plates" instead of one big entree. You can tailor your meal to fit your tastes and your budget. Simple, great food.

What a gem of a place. We went for the early-evening menu (£12.95 available from 5.30-7.00pm) prior to a concert and were delighted with the warm welcome from the staff, the standard of service, and the excellence of the food. With the bistro only serving 'starter-sized' meals it is a great way to try several of the delicious dishes on... More

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. We have lots of pre-theatre diners and really understand how important effiicent service is at this time. The mushroom flan has been on the menu for sometime, but we always get in trouble when we try and take it off. We look forward to welcoming you again to La Barrique. More
