An evening visit this time. The Chequers is a sister to the Marlborough Tavern but being in a less obvious position tries just that little bit harder.Food is imaginative , attractive and good local suppliers. You can come in for a full meal or just a single course/2 light courses.Good fish on offer , firm texture(Fresh) and some nice veggie options,the... Visited the pub last night for a drink with a friend. Ordered pints of coke&orange juice, and lime&soda, for which I was charged £4.80 and £1.95 respectively. That'd be outrageous at the best of times, but what we were brought didn't look like pints, so I queried the three staff who were serving at the time, who all assured me... More

Amazing place, fab staff! Best Pork dish I have ever had! The setting was perfect for my other halves birthday. I would highly recommend that everyone should try Chequers! We shall be going back again very soon!

We booked for a friends birthday meal. We sat upstairs which was light and airy compared to the pub like atmosphere downstairs. There is a window into the kitchen upstairs. The food was delicious - although huge portions - can recommend sharing the squid starter! When we left it was cosy and candle lit downstairs - perfect romantic setting. Will... More

We went here for Easter Sunday lunch with our children and had a wonderful meal. I had the rib roast and it was delicious! Portions were ginormous but I still managed to eat everything on my plate.....and fit the chocolate fondant pudding in afterwards. Very nice atmosphere and the staff we dealt with were very friendly. I liked how there... More

We like the Chequers alot. It has a great Gastro Pub atmosphere and very good food. If anything the portion sizes are on the large size, which for some might be a good thing, but can be a bit daunting otherwise. Great combination of quality and price.

I came here for Sunday lunch with my family, the service was polite and attentive without being overbearing, and the food was excellent. I had Sunday roast with pork belly - the meat was tender and tasty without being too salty, the seasonal veggies (including potatoes, parsnips, and creamed leeks) were lovely, and if I had had enough room left,... Friendly welcome at this bistro pub. Not too busy but reasonable amount of trade for a Monday evening. Good choice of traditional British food. Would definitely recommend to my friends.

Visited the Chequers during a visit to Bath after some online research and have to say it lived up to, if not surpassed, its reputation. My scallop and pork belly starter melted in the mouth and my friend's lamb scotch egg was worth travelling back to Bath for alone. The ox cheeks melted in the mouth and all accompanying veg... More
