Very happy to have dined here

Our next door neighbour raved about this place so thought we would give it a try. Had two courses, main and dessert. Mains we had were the corn fed chicken and fillet beef. They were both excellent. The food all looked and tasted good. However some of the portions were extremely small. I had the salt and pepper squid starter, and the crispy hens egg main. The main course was smaller than the starter, there were two sticks of young asparagus, 5 small pieces if gnocchi and a breadcrumbed hens egg, with some mayonnaise. The cost was... More

Wow, slightly hungover and needing a comforting roast we are so glad we found this pub. Down a quiet street and not very big, it takes the humble roast to the next level! The pub had a great vibe, buzzing but not hectic. The roast when it came was a masterpiece and came on the biggest plate you will ever... More

Wow. Booked a table here for Sunday lunch after receiving a recommendation from a local. Our expectations were blasted out of the water! Delicious food, generous portions, very well presented. We both had the roast beef. Staff are friendly and welcoming. The chef is clearly very talented. Would love to return when in area and will recommend to all.

Had dinner there last Friday with boyfriend. We arrived at 9.00 pm from London and made it to the pub at 9.40 pm (note that the kitchen takes the last orders at 10.10 pm). The décor is simple yet inviting and warm. The staff is extremely friendly and food was just mind-blowing! You can feel their passion for food in... More

We had made a booking for late on a gorgeous Sunday evening. We waited patiently at the bar for service & unfortunately we were ignored for several minutes. It doesn't take long for a staff member to quickly say "will be with you in a moment". Just when we decided to leave we were acknowledged. Glad we stayed as the... More

When we first arrived at Chequers, we weren't sure it was the type of place foodies would dine. But after an hour and a fantastic dinner we are converted. Yes the decor is overly simple but the food is as good as any upscale pub in Bath. Go for the Lamb or the local catch of the day. And definitely... More

Very good food ( way above your average pub stuff) served in a friendly , relaxed atmosphere. Very good service in spite them seeming a little bit short staffed , would definitely go there again.
