We visited Bath for a weekend break and wanted to round the experience off in style with a fantastic Saturday night meal. We could not have picked a better restaurant for this than The Chequers. Right from the start the service was attentive but not rushed. Gaps between courses were long enough to reflect in the fantastic tastes left on... More

We have been googling to find the best Sunday roast in Bath and Chequers was recommended as the best gastro-pub. We visited the restaurant without reservation and it was fully booked, but the waiter was really friendly and made the best to accommodate us on a busy Sunday. We have ordered 2 beef roasts which arrived a bit later than... More

We ate here on Sunday evening. Initially tempted by the roast we ordered the sole. We realised our good fortune when it arrived. A dish worthy of a high class restaurant. Served on a bed of samphire with a fennel dress, crab bonbon and a devine crab bisque it was simply amazing. We had the squid to start, which was... More

I am reticent to use the phrase "gastro-pub" as it is now so abused by terrible pubs who just happen to serve food. The Chequers is a real gastro-pub, with real chefs producing inventive real food. They offer decent real ales, the décor is good and the staff are friendly. Prices are a bit on the high side, which is about... More

Fab meal, huge starter, great roast dinner and devine desserts. Definitely eat here - portions are huge. Great to watch the chefs in action. Ate in upstairs restaurant. Nowhere to have a pre-drink in downstairs bar. Think dog in upstair restaurant a bit odd. Would definitely eat there again. Good value.

We were able to offer our guests a choice for each course selected from the a la carte menu all of which arrived perfectly presented and were absolutely delicious .John , Lewis and all the team could... Really enjoyed our meal, we didn't have much time as it was quite late and we were pushed for time, but the food and service was spot on!
