Description: Situated around the corner from The Royal Crescent, The Marlborough Tavern...
Situated around the corner from The Royal Crescent, The Marlborough Tavern combines the atmosphere of a local pub with the quality of a top restaurant. Two AA rosettes, a horde of local & national awards plus inclusions in The Michelin Guide and Good Food Guide bear testimony to their consistent delivery of high quality cooking. They have a clear approach to food find the best and freshest ingredients and to create great tasting, essentially simple dishes where the quality of the produce speaks for itself. Married to that is a passion for inventiveness that sees the menu constantly changing. Food is essentially though not slavishly English in character and takes advantage of locally sourced produce wherever possible. The lunchtime menu features a range of lighter dishes and sharing plates plus some traditional pub classics - and the Sunday roasts are legendary. Their food reputation is matched by their service always friendly and attentive without being intrusive. They have an extensive wine list and selection of local ales, and they can mix a mean cocktail too. Outside they boast what is arguably Baths finest pub garden; a walled courtyard space, its perfect for summertime lunching and drinking.

Much better than it looks!

A fairly unprepossessing building from the outside and a very minimalist, scrubbed table look to the interior. But the food is great and with a reasonable range of wines and beers. Good value too!

The staff were lovely-very warm and welcoming and were kind to my 86 Mum who has limited mobility. It has a nice welcoming and buzzy feel. They offer more expensive dishes along with pub classics so you can be quite informal. We had the duck which was cooked perfectly-nice and pink but Mum' s was slightly more cooked and she... More

We had Sunday lunch in this nice pub for my husbands birthday. We had a warm and friendly welcome. The pub had a chilled out vibe with lots of families occupying tables and customers with various dogs. The service was extremely efficient. The food was tasty. My roast pork was slightly dry.... Apart from that it was delicious. Would definitely... More

We arrived very early evening not having booked. Immediately a friendly waiter said he had one table we could have have for a couple of hours and all the staff here were most welcoming. My partner and I both opted for fish dishes and both were beautifully cooked. The choices on the menu are good and there are specials on... More

We booked and our table was ready waiting for us on our arrival. We were served with great food, nice wine and lager all with excellent service - all in all a great evening out.

Having eaten a superb meal at The Chequers only 2 nights previously, we thought we would try its sister pub, The Marlborough Tavern. What a difference a 5 minute walk can make! This pub was severely disappointing. Whilst we we were seated quickly and served promptly, the waitress was totally disinterested in us. The food was also nowhere near as... More

Hi HolibobReviews, I can only apologise for your experience here at the Tav. The service side is something we work so hard on and I can assure you that your comments will be actioned (they already have and the whole team has been briefed). The food side we are looking into. There should be nothing bone like at all in... More

Sunday lunch: Roast beef £15.50. Chocolate Brownie £6.50. Plus of course a 10% service charge, so roast beef is actually £17 inclusive of service. Our table wasn’t ready so we had a drink at the bar – this was of course put on a tab so it attracted 10 % service. Pre service cost of a small prosecco with a... More

We're in Bath on a regular basis and have discovered the Malborough Tavern to be a real treat. Never once have we had a duff meal and the service is always friendly and welcoming. Even when we haven't booked they try their best to find us a table. The food is delicious and beautifully presented and I wholly recommend this... More

My husband and I popped in to the Tavern at short notice last Sunday, and luckily, they were able to fit us in ( a reservation hadn't shown up). Both of us had a roast (I had the veg nut roast while he had a meat option), which were excellent. The nut roast has hazelnuts and pistachios in it (I've... More

What a blissful place to eat - delicious and well-thought through food, classy - yet comfortable - surroundings and lovely staff, who are attentive and friendly, and only seem to be there when you need them. Can't fault the Marlborough Tavern one bit.
