Description: Situated around the corner from The Royal Crescent, The Marlborough Tavern...
Situated around the corner from The Royal Crescent, The Marlborough Tavern combines the atmosphere of a local pub with the quality of a top restaurant. Two AA rosettes, a horde of local & national awards plus inclusions in The Michelin Guide and Good Food Guide bear testimony to their consistent delivery of high quality cooking. They have a clear approach to food find the best and freshest ingredients and to create great tasting, essentially simple dishes where the quality of the produce speaks for itself. Married to that is a passion for inventiveness that sees the menu constantly changing. Food is essentially though not slavishly English in character and takes advantage of locally sourced produce wherever possible. The lunchtime menu features a range of lighter dishes and sharing plates plus some traditional pub classics - and the Sunday roasts are legendary. Their food reputation is matched by their service always friendly and attentive without being intrusive. They have an extensive wine list and selection of local ales, and they can mix a mean cocktail too. Outside they boast what is arguably Baths finest pub garden; a walled courtyard space, its perfect for summertime lunching and drinking.

We visited The Marlborough Tavern for dinner on a very busy Sunday night. We were quickly shown to our table by a friendly waitress, who promptly delivered menus and took drinks orders. I was moderately disappointed that the menu appeared to be a Sunday lunch menu. We were expecting a more diverse selection of items, but were fairly happy to... More

Following reading a book entitled 'Eat Slow Britain' by Alastair Sawday, (2010) which included an article about The Marlborugh Tavern, we visited The Marlborough for the first time in 2010. We had a Sunday roast there, in the wonderfully sunny, enclosed courtyard. The meal was excellent, we had a chat with the then Chef, Richard Knighting, who had trained under... More

Lovely pub in a lovely location, near the royal crescent and Victoria park. Well done up with a good choice of food and drink and friendly staff. Probably worth booking a table for lunch at weekends as it was packed when we were there and we couldn't get a table. A bit on the pricey side but nice setting.

Visited the Marlborough Tavern on a busy Sunday. I had the roast chicken and my partner the pork belly (which I had major food envy over, it was the best pork belly I have ever tasted.) The whole meal was delicious, generous portions and quickly served despite being busy. There was a slight mix up over the desserts (which were... More

gastropub which is a bit sterile in ambiance but was child friendly so got a thumbs up! Small menu and I thought quite pricey but the food was excellent. 3 days later I couldn't remember what I had so whilst good it certainly wasn't memorable,

I was on my own and feeling hungry. Popping into the Chequers, where we have eaten very well several times, I found that lunch was not available during the week, but was directed to the Marlborough, a stone's throw away. There I was welcomed and if anything, even better fed: I had a duck leg which was straighforwardly presented, beautifully... More

The service and food was excellent. A starter, main and sweet dish was not available which was a shame as the menu choices were small. I was a little disappointed that the example menu on the website was not offered but a Sunday menu was, we visited on a Sunday evening. It did say that there was a Sunday lunch... More
