lucky find

we were on our way for a weekend in Chester and stopped here for an early dinner as we had missed lunch. The staff were welcoming and the decor very charming - we could see the garden was delightful, but it was too cold to sit outside. The food was excellent and arrived very quickly.

I absolutely love this location, the garden, restaurant and pub side are beautiful, but sadly the nice experience stops there.... we have eaten here 3 times now, we return for the garden. The pie, which they take the time to write your name on, a bit odd but their choice, is pretty awful, it was watery liquid with dry chicken,... More

We went to the Riverside Inn for a late afternoon meal and it was not a good experience. The staff initially seemed to take our presence as an imposition and then we were told we could not sit at a table where we could enjoy the views as they were all booked for evening meals later on - despite the... Called in at the Riverside following a trip to Shrewsbury. Prompt, friendly service on arrival and a lovely table overlooking the Severn. In summer, there are tables outside on the river bank. Limited choice menu but all very tempting. The venison pie comes personalised with your Christian name on it!! Ample portions of potatoes and veg come with most dishes... More

We were en route to Bridgnorth having left home late morning. Big mistake to go out hungry and hence when The Riverside Inn came in sight we upset the driver behind and pulled sharply in. Very smart and clean inside, and a receptionist with a warm smile confirmed that lunch was being served; we chose a table in the bay... More

Visited last week with two old friends of whom I don't see enough. Service was prompt, friendly, and efficient, and although we lingered gossiping we were assured that the restaurant was open all day so there was no rush. My friends had olives and bread followed by chicken dishes, I had a Waldorf salad (mainly so I could crack silly... More

We called for lunch during the middle of last week.We ordered a sirloin steak( which tasted quite ordinary and not flavoursome at all) and a Beef and Guinness pie (with your name on the top...nice), which was packed with beef and was better value than the steak. Chips and accompanying vegetables were good. What does frustrate me with this type... More

We had a late Sunday lunch, celebrating 20 years together. The onion soup was very good and my deep-fried brie too. Our main courses were fine, but the beef pie was a little disappointing as the meat was rather "chewy" - undercooked? Vegetables, as usual, excellent. My apricot roly-poly was yummy and my partner's toffee cheesecake too (Very large slice... More
