We were not impressed by our inn so we asked the staff to recommend somewhere else nearby. Very helpful staff on arrival. We decided to sit outside in the sunshine. We moved tables due to the noisy air con unit, but the staff were ok with our initial moans. Wine (cote de Rhone) very good. Starters fine. Roast lamb very... More

We regularly go to Cromwells as it has by far the best outside space to eat in Shrewsbury. The food is great, really good and we particularly like the sharing platters and ace cocktails!. But what makes Cromwells stand out are the fantastic staff who offer a completely different level of service to most of the other restaurants in Shrewsbury.... More

I met here with a group of girlfriends for Saturday lunch. It was full inside but we were offered a table outside under a canopy and were shown how to use the outside heaters. The service was great from start. I opted for the vegetable and halloumi grill which looked fantastic and tasted even better. The rest went for the Strips... More

The gnocchi I had for £3 as part of the food festival 'safari' were superb - great texture, topped with perfectly cooked and asparagus, and attractively served. All this on their warm terrace in the evening sun. Attentive service, and nicely matched wines to both my and my friends dishes - she chose to have a dessert, which was no... More

Really welcoming, friendly staff. Due to weather sat outside for food really nice surroundings were not kept waiting to be served and staff very attentive. Food was excellent value for money and very nice.

Whenever my husband and I visit Shrewsbury we eat at least one, although usually multiple, meals at Cromwells. We like to sit outside in the garden and enjoy the amazing summer weather. The food is always incredible, amazing prices, great wine selections including dessert wines, and friendly and efficient wait staff. Must try!

We went here for lunch on Saturday afternoon,I wasn`t that impressed with the choice on the menu, and our first choice of wasn`t available for some reason. Our seconded choice came quickly and was hot, however it had very little taste, and I didn`t find it good value for the money they charged. The music was very noisy and so... More

Tasteless food. Dreadful service. Very expensive for the quality of the above. Unlikely we will return again.

Under no stretch of the imagination does this review reflect the true experience of the vast majority of our customers. Our food is locally sourced and prepared by a dedicated team of professionals and served by outstanding staff. If you had such an experience why did you not make this known at the time? More

Cormwells in Dogpole(we love all the old street names in Shrewsbury) is open all day and after an enjoyable day touring the town we sat down in this lovely bistro late afternoon. Service was warm and friendly and flexible and the food extremely good, as were the prices!!! We will definitely return.

We recently enjoyed a family meal at Cromwells and from our fairly extensive experience, would rate it as one of the best places to eat in Shrewsbury in terms of quality, value and service. The menu choice was good and reasonably priced although we were surprised at the absence of any fish. The "special" however was hake which we all... More
