Outdoor eatery in relaxing town; great service

There seems to be a bewildering number of good places to eat and visit in Shrewsbury. We were 6 friends spending two nights in this great town, and Cromwells was across the road from our lodging. We ate on the "top deck" outside on a balmy evening, views of the many rooftops and spires, relaxing... read more

We had a beautiful fish platter in their very pretty beer garden. We've been here before many years ago but the changes are great. The staff are happy and jolly and the food is spot on. When the sun comes out there's no better place but it can get very busy. It will be our regular spot from now on.... More

We had the fish platter between the two of us and I have to say it was amazing ,smoked salmon, goujons ,halibut and cod with chips ,olives, salad and different types of bread. We couldn't eat it all and I was starving after not eating all day .great friendly pub.

After wandering around most of Shrewsbury looking at menus we finally decided on Cromwells . A table was quickly found outside on the busy terrace drinks and then food arrived promptly . The food and service was excellent. In and out , fed and watered in under an hour - would highly recommend

We ate in the popular and busy sun terrace at the back of the inn - good quality food, friendly and welcoming service - all in all a real treat.

Beef burger and potatoes were totally delicious as was the summer fruit pudding. Food was excellent and sitting on the roof garden in the summer evening weather made it all the more enjoyable. Meal was under 10 GBP.

Went in on a Friday evening with my husband. We shared the steak night (Fri night special): Two steaks (1 sirloin and 1 ribeye, cooked to your liking), onion rings, chips, peppercorn sauce, salad and a bottle of wine for £40. The food was really tasty. The steaks were cooked to medium (as we requested) perfectly and were good quality... More
