Lovely lamb chops

We visited here after a walk locally. It is a lovely small gastro pub so we were expecting a nice quality meal. We were not disappointed. The lamb chops were were great. We has extra gravy and mint sauce. They also brought vegetables that we weren't expecting. Not cheap but we didn't want cheap. A... read more

We went for a meal on a Thursday evening and so the restaurant was relatively quiet. The food and service were excellent. The portions were very generous, nicely cooked and presented. No complaints whatsoever, a lovely meal in a great old pub in a beautiful historical town...what could be better!? We will certainly be going back.

Nine of us went here for Sunday lunch, was busy but the restaurant is efficiently run and works well. Good choice of roasts, beef, pork, chicken, turkey... No Lamb when we went but all nicely cooked and good portions. We all enjoyed our food at £9.75 for an adult and £5.95 for a child's portion it's great value and tasty... More

Just called in to have a drink but ended up having dinner after seeing menu and specials. After shaky start with serving staff in restaurant, food was excellent, good choice of beers and desserts amazing, with a very authentic atmosphere. Think it might need booking in the busy silly season, but you won't be disappointed.

This is a welcoming pub with a friendly bar and a roomy dining area. The beer was very good and the food exceptional! Best fish we have had in a long time and lovely fresh vegetables. Can definitely recommend!

Dined here with my family on the very good value 2 courses for £10 (Mon to Wed evening). It was fairly quiet which is to be expected on a Monday night. I had the black pudding starter & fish & chips as a main. Both very good & big portions. My wife's chilli con carne was also good & again... More

If you find yourself in Shrewsbury and you're looking for a place to eat, look out for and find this place. A bit off the beaten track, perhaps, but good ales, choice food and reasonable prices make it work hunting out. Service can be a bit tardy because they take their time over cooking and food preparation, but if it's... More

A warm, cosy pub. We only had a drink here although the food menu looked (and smelt!) good. Worth a visit if you're passing.

We come here fairly frequently and we love it here! The food is excellent and my partner is a fan of the different ales. The service is always good and the staff are friendly. I am a fan of trying to get a spot in front of the fire with a glass of red wine!
