The food looks lovely, the meats are delicious. The rest of the food is cold, come on you can do better, the price is very good at £7.95, but that is no excuse for cold food

We ate on Sunday 8 June around 6-30, after the rush of the carvery. Had a nice table in the window. The staff are nice but levels of service need to improve a lot. Drinks take for ever to come, even though it was really quiet. We ordered wine at the same time as the food and it didn't come... More

We had a fantastic meal at the beauchief last night. We were a large group of 16 people celebrating a family birthday. The food was plentiful and delicious! Even though it was a Saturday night the staff were very attentive especially Stacey and Jamie! The fixed price menu was exceptionally good value with plenty of choice, but there was also... More

The upstairs Restaurant was very quiet for a Saturday night the ambience was quite good and the wine was nice.... More

We dined in a party of 6 here on a Saturday evening recently. The food was really very good and priced about right. Two of the party dined off a fixed price menu, £18.00 for three courses which was exceptional value especially on a Saturday night. We had two issues, firstly the only thing that let the meal down was... More

If you want to go for a long night out with waits of 15 minutes to get a wine list and 20-25 minutes between courses, then this is the place for you. WE went to the restaurant for 8pm and were seated straight away, the restaurant was busy but a lot of people were on starters and mains. We were... More

It was a Friday night and the place wasn't buzzing. It should be. It's Friday night! To me this place is of the old school, it's not too brash, loud or snooty, it should in theory attract a good crowd of people looking for some good home cooked food. How difficult can it be to make a prawn cocktail? Shredded... More

I read the other comments; we(2 people) had lovely experience. Sunday at 5.30, very quiet in upstairs restaurant. Staff attentive. I asked for iced water and glass of wine(to arrive with main course)- perfectly executed. My partner had a starter of Finnen Haddock, main courses= Boulilbaisse and Mushroom Wellington. Cannot fault attentive servers and staff in general. Lovely family atmosphere(young... More

Not been for a while and read mixed reviews - but was pleasantly surprised. Fairly quiet but it was mid week. Started off in the bar with good drinks service and comfy sofas. Good selection on menu( + a set menu for the cheaper option which none of us ordered from). Offered some yummy bread that looked like Yorkshire puds... More
