THE FOOD AT L'ORTOLAN WILL NOT DISAPPOINT.

We have eaten here many times over the years. The set price lunch menu is always good value. Although nothing jumped out head and shoulders from it this time, never the less all was good. I do find it not quite up to the standard of Alan Murchison. There are now many more staff striding about and... read more

Visited on a weeknight but the place was still fairly busy. We were guided to the bar for a drink before our table was ready. I wasn't aware this was going to be a part of the experience and if I had been would have booked an earlier slot. We were kept waiting quite a while as it was busy... More

We have not been to this restaurant for quite some time but decided to have lunch to see whether it had changed. The food was excellent as was the service. I do feel that the carpets have had their day and some of the chairs were decidedly grubby. Go with high expectations of the food and wine but it will... More

Went today for the New Zealand lunch at £37 for amuses bouches, three courses, chefs extra mini starter and chefs pre dessert. With a glass of wine thrown in remarkable value. The food could not be faulted in both taste and presentation, staff were charming, efficient and knowledgable. All in all an excellent meal. We used to be regulars but... More

Absolutely love this place! Been several times now for lunch and dinner and never been disappointed. All the staff are so attentive and really care about what they do this is very apparent in the service and food which is exceptional! The sommelier paired our wines with our food over lunch which was a real treat and not being too... More

The attention to detail is first class. Excellent service and the meal absolutely divine. We all chose the Gourmand menu with wines and were not disappointed. We shall certainly return soon.

We went to this restaurant for my wife's birthday. Overall the atmosphere and the surrounding grounds are pleasant however the food was very disappointing. We ordered the tasting menu: First came the scallops which I have to say were cooked just right however the cauliflower in curry source didn't taste right. However the chocolate pieces in my opinion just killed... More

Took my wife on an impulse as it was many years since my last visit. We both chose the Gourmet menu which was a wonderful spectrum of delicate and differing tastes and textures within each course. The Sommelier's recommendations were an excellent complement to each course augmenting the excellence of the food. The service was very good and the Sommelier... More

Of course this restaurant has a high reputation for food and service, but it didn't disappoint. We went here on my birthday and opted for the tasting menu. The food was beautiful, not a bad dish amongst them. I was most impressed, however, by the service. I was pregnant at the time, and they bent over backwards to accommodate my... More
