Brought my girlfriend for her birthday. Food was very good. Wine was very good. Service was excellent. Only two negatives is that we arrived quite late from London and were given the last table available, which was not a great one (right next to fire door) and not a great atmosphere for a romantic birthday. Also the staff forgot it... More

Nothing really to fault. Good food, excellent efficient but not intrusive service. Relatively inexpensive lunch menu, with plenty of choice within it.

My Fiance took me to L'ortolan last year to celebrate our engagement. We live fairly local so the location was perfect and we opted for the Gourmand menu which was comprised of 7 dishes. I cannot stress how beautifully everything was put together, the food was fantastic, I got to try new things I hadn't eaten before and the tempura... More

This was my first visit to L'Ortolan and I loved it! The service was impeccable and the food tasted as good as it looked. Will definitely return.

We went for the midweek tasting menu which is about the cheapest way to dine here. The problem I have is this: I love food, I'm not a high end food critic, but even I could spot schoolboy errors in the comestibles served up. I'll go through each course to give good and bad points: Bar snacks: great pork should... More

We came to L'Ortolan for a birthday lunch, looking for fine dining in a nice setting. To cut a long story short, we were not disappointed – for the most part. We had (unfortunately) picked one of the hottest days of the year for our lunch, but were welcomed and shown to our table at an open window right away.... More

We had dinner on our wedding anniversary, and went for the set 5 course gourmand menu, as a friend had warned me that portions are small. My husband also had the 5 wine flight and extra cheese course. The food was beautifully presented and tasted wonderful. The staff were extremely attentive and described everything we were eating. The sommelier was... More

Booked for lunch and had the set menu. Wonderful food. Service was a bit overbearing and too many interruptions to talk about the food. If this was toned down this would be a great restaurant.

We went to L'Ortolan for combined early retirement and wedding anniversary celebrations. The experience was good, but strangely underwhelming. The attention to detail is excellent and the food was picture perfect, but I'm afraid we found the atmosphere a little too reverential, and the food a little too focused on style over substance. Everything looked ready to photograph, but -... More

We have been to L'Ortolan twice now and have been equally impressed on both visits. The location and grounds are really nice, the staff are great and the food is out of this world. The restaurant itself is spacious and there are romantic circular tables for two, if you like that kind of thing! The restaurant will also take note... More
