My wife and I visited for her birthday on a Saturday evening, we were greeted, by the question have you booked, not a great start, stand off attitude from the staff. I chose the dressed crab, with fries and salad, the crab was great and the salad seasoned and dressed lovely, however parts of the dish need some more thought... More

If It's on the menu (note their's is a seasonal menu) go for the pigeon kievs. Not my dried up leathery effort fried with onions, but moist easy to eat in a thick crispy crunchy coating. The dish is artistically presented, but probably a little light on the carbs for some, but it should be possible to buy a potato... More

Nice place that knows how to cook the roast properly i.e. pink, not over done and lovely and tender nicely presented and tasty. The décor is pleasant but some how it lacks slighty in atmosphere. It wasn't all that busy which was probably why and is a shame as the food it great (although i did comment to the waitress... More

Friday night, restaurant pretty empty. Burger and chips, fish and chips and crab with salad and chips. Burger, fish and crab were very nice, but the chips were tough and nothing special. For the price I expect much better. Staff were pleasant but not interested if we'd enjoyed our meal or not. The Blackbird next door is much nicer, but... More

Pretty good menu and food presentation was good. Service was ok but not fantastic bar area is good. If you are looking for light bite I would choose the blackbird cafe next door though.

Visited for an anniversary meal. Small portions for a vast price! Shocking cheese board - poor veggie options and disappointing Bucklebury mess.

This is one of our local establishments and by far the best. The owner does an excellent PR job, often seen greeting people mid service in his chefs attire. The menu changes often with fresh and seasonal ingredients. Not your average pub grub!

Visited on a Saturday evening with friends. Bar area is catering for local customers as well as those looking to eat in restaurant area so it can be a little crowded - but don't be put off. The service all evening was very good. Drinks took a little while to arrive, but not the end of the world. My Diinner... More

Having read the reviews, I had high hopes of the Blade Bone and booked for a birthday meal. I had decided on the fish main course, however, instead of the Turbot on the menu, I was offered Dover Sole, which I eat whenever I can get it. Sadly when this arrived, with a sauce which was admittedly delicious, I found... More

My wife and I visited this for our wedding anniversary and whilst the food is wonderful (if sometimes on the small portion size) we found the service to be a very hit and miss affair. I had booked for the restaurant and when we arrived we introduced ourselves and said we had a booking. We were then pointed to a... More
