We were a large party (8) and arrived rather late for Sunday lunch - 1.30pm, but were promptly shown menus and drinks orders were taken and delivered. We all had starters - my Scotch egg was sublime. Half the party chose from the roast dinners (a good variety, including duck), and the rest of us had a variety of main... More

Stopped off for Sunday lunch at the Blade Bone. Ploughman's & a pint of local beer. Very nice, attentive staff and reasonably priced.

We've eaten here a few times over the last couple of years and have always had an excellent experience. The food used to be beautifully presented and much more exciting than your average pub. In fact we used to feel it was close to Michelin standard. Our lunch today however, was so disappointing. I'm not sure whether it's changed hands,... More

We visited this pub a few weeks ago after lunch in a nearby pub for coffee. The menu looked appealing and we decided to do a return visit today for Sunday lunch. We checked their own website and it stated food was served until 15.45. We arrived at 14.50 and I requested a table for four. I was told that... More

Good customer service is essential. I felt that we were not really welcome and that we caused a problem by just being there. I was hungry so ate most of my tasteless meal. The side order of fries arrived when I'd almost finished my meal. The fries were good and hot.

My wife and I visited for her birthday on a Saturday evening, we were greeted, by the question have you booked, not a great start, stand off attitude from the staff. I chose the dressed crab, with fries and salad, the crab was great and the salad seasoned and dressed lovely, however parts of the dish need some more thought... More

If It's on the menu (note their's is a seasonal menu) go for the pigeon kievs. Not my dried up leathery effort fried with onions, but moist easy to eat in a thick crispy crunchy coating. The dish is artistically presented, but probably a little light on the carbs for some, but it should be possible to buy a potato... More

Nice place that knows how to cook the roast properly i.e. pink, not over done and lovely and tender nicely presented and tasty. The décor is pleasant but some how it lacks slighty in atmosphere. It wasn't all that busy which was probably why and is a shame as the food it great (although i did comment to the waitress... More

Friday night, restaurant pretty empty. Burger and chips, fish and chips and crab with salad and chips. Burger, fish and crab were very nice, but the chips were tough and nothing special. For the price I expect much better. Staff were pleasant but not interested if we'd enjoyed our meal or not. The Blackbird next door is much nicer, but... More

Pretty good menu and food presentation was good. Service was ok but not fantastic bar area is good. If you are looking for light bite I would choose the blackbird cafe next door though.
