Shame we read the reviews and thought 12 half miles was not a bad distanced to cycle on a sunday afternoon and try this pub. It wasn't particularly busy but we were turned away and told there weren't any tables available at 3pm and they did say serving all day. Shame as we were not even invited to stay for... More

I've been here twice recently, once for dinner (the night before my wedding!!) and once for a family lunch. The dinner asvalways was fantastic. As it was a special occassion, I had my favorite dinner here, the Beef Wellington, which as always was fantastic. a top tip though - if you're having the Wellington, dont have the Pate to start... Popped in on Friday for a bit of lunch. Unfortunately out of chicken so Ceasar Salad off menu. So we went for the duck, fish pie and fish n chips. For lunch food simply excellent, we sat in garden and a young lady was looking after us. Brilliant service. Continues to be one of the best places to eat between... More

We arrived here without booking and, despite the fact that they had lots of reservations, they kindly managed to find us a table. The decor is really nice and makes you feel like you are sat in someone's dining room rather than in a pub. The sunday lunch of roast beef was lovely - and the accompanying gravy was fabulous.... We came here as a family and had a wonderful meal. We sat out in the garden and had table service. The children loved running around looking at the chickens and playing with the giant chess set. In the winter they have some lovely cosy tables with a few games to play for example mini jenga and dominoes. They do... More

We tried three highly rated pubs in the area in three days and this wasn't the best. The service was cheerful and attentive, but the food was a bit hit and miss. The starters were delicious - the smoked salmon and brown bread was generous and tasty, but the warm smoked mackerel salad was half of a fillet, which felt... More

Popped in here on the way home from Southampton and was pleasantly surprised. With A lovely menu and good selection of drinks this pub restaurant is very welcoming. The food was all home cooked and plenty of it. You can sit inside or out in the lovely garden. Very reasonably priced and the service from the guys who run it... More

Lovely rural pub. Seems to have changed management a couple of times since being renovated a few years ago. The current managers though have continued to offer great food and the pub looks well looked after. Recommend for Sunday lunch or just a pitstop for a beer on a sunny day

A lovely pub in a lovely area. We booked for my birthday with friends and it lived up to expectations. The food was exceptional, as was the service and the experience with one of the owners unforgettable. He made it fun for us all!

I met my wife for lunch at the iron duke for a romantic lunch today. We were greeted warmly and served a drink. That's where the pleasant part finished ! We had to wait 45 minutes for our lunch which was very average, and were not at any point checked on or offered more drinks. The place was quiet so... More
