Had high hopes but left disappointed

Came here with my partner (who is both wheat & dairy intolerant) with high hopes. General ambience was fine; staff were friendly and accommodating, but I'm afraid the meat burger I had was a huge let down - low quality meat that was chewy/rubbery with practically every bite. I am a huge fan of Ethiopian food, having had it many times in Germany. The food here is slightly less good quality to that which I've had before, but it is what I assume would be closer to homemade food as opposed to restaurant-style swanky meals. I highly recommend people getting the vegetarian platter. Even if you like meat,... More

Arrived at this hippy 60's throw back booked a table and were dispatched to our seats. Went to the buffet only to be sent away as we hadn't paid! No one had told us we needed to pay first! There were 6 dishes, you paid more for the meat option which was overly spiced cheap mince meat (Iceland quality) my... More

Unfortunately I found this over priced for the quality, and even worse was the service. One person was very good but there was a very laid back girl serving as well spending more time chatting than caring about the customers that were waiting which is a real shame as I'm sure it could be much better.

I don't necessarily still wish to live in Reading BUT I wish Tutu's Kitchen would have come with me to Oxford ;) For someone like me who grew up in a food-wise conservative area in Germany this is a whole new world of flavours! Go on a Thursday for the meal deal, grab yourself an Ethiopian beer and enjoy gorgeous... More

Somewhat dissapointing. The day I went there the service was poor and the meal was simple mediocre. But the dishes were unusual and that was interesting. Try it for a different experience rather than good food.

Best pub/restaurant in Reading. Lonely staff, good variety of ales, good live music. One of my top ten place in Reading.

Heard about Tutu's Ethiopian kitchen on BBC R4 Food programme, and so glad we checked it out. Very down to earth cafe, with lots of drinks options, and really really tasty Ethopian food - highly recommended!

I ate here with a friend on a Wednesday evening and was so pleasantly surprised! For a start, don't be put off by its location a little away from the centre of Reading - it's so worth the detour! And make sure to explore the attached shop before you come into the restaurant: so many wonderful, quirky gifts to be... More

The mains we had were great. I'd never had Ethiopian food so didn't no what to expect. But I am quite happy we decided to try out the place. Have been there since back then, for drink and snacks. Will keep visiting this laid-back and homely cafe.
