Cafe: does what it says on the tin..

Regularly tip up here when I'm in Oxford ... Can get a quick cafe meal, or linger longer over a drink in the friendly, informal atmosphere ... Veggies well catered for, nice wine, interesting menu in the lovely Walton Street environment ...

Always to a good standard, this independent cafe is usually busy with a steady stream of students and locals. There is wifi and news papers, fresh cakes and some great food, which has daily specials covering both veggies and meat eaters. Plenty of space downstairs if its looking busy when you look in the window, so don't be put off.... More

Go here for a very yummy, well-priced breakfast. Great food. Great service. Quickly turned around. What more could you need?

Very small place. Children seem to be unwelcome. Staff may get annoyed with them if they mistakenly went on their way. I went there with a friend and her child and we were mistreated by a woman bartender with an very unfriendly face expression and rude ton of voice.

Ah yes, our (normally very friendly and polite) manager did mention this incident to us. I believe that whilst you and your friend were talking, your child had lain across the cafe floor in a position which placed herself in considerable danger of being tripped over by customers or waiting staff carrying hot drinks and plates of food. We think... More

We had a few minutes before our bike tour started so we thought we'd get a coffee. Everything looked so good we ended up with a full English breakfast! Very local...off the tourist track. Definitely a place I would go to everyday if I were a local (wish).

Our meal last night was extremely disappointing. We ordered two lamb feta and mint burgers, and received an undercooked flat grey burger in half a pitta bread, a small portion of chips and a mouthful of salad, each for just under £10. When we complained we were told that the burgers are always microwaved. The burgers returned with a little... More

I'm so sorry that your meal on Tuesday evening did not come up to our usual standard. It's not just the customers who expect more from our cafe - we do too and I will most certainly be looking into this incident. Rest assured though, our burgers are most definitely NOT cooked in the microwave. Your meal on Tuesday evening... More

This place looks very nice inside and out and was very busy when we visited. my wife and I both had coffee and a different cake each, We were lucky enough to get one of the tables outside the front. My lasting memory though is of the cake. Not the taste just the experience of getting it! The older lady... More

Oh dear, I'm sorry about that. Occasionally when we reach the end of one of the cakes, the last slice looks a bit small so staff will normally claim this slice as their own and helpfully eat it.. If a customer orders the last slice of any particular cake before we've had a chance to snaffle it, however, we sometimes... More

There is only a handful of places in Oxford serving a properly good coffee: Quarterhorse, Zappis, Natural Bread Company, Jericho Coffee Traders, Brew, The Missing Bean, and (surprisingly) The Rickety Press. Not only is the Jericho Cafe NOT one of these places...it's almost as if some Oxford academic spent years researching how to make the worst espresso coffee possible. It... More

The abuse of Tripadvisor by unscrupulous business owners and their cronies as a tool to attack their close competitors is a despicable, cowardly practice, not to mention a fraudulent one. You have quite obviously never eaten in our establishment, I doubt whether you've even read the menu. Which particular dish is typical of grey, flavourless English cooking? Is it the... More

We have lived in Jericho for nearly 3 years and always dismissed this place...why, I do not know! It is fantastic! Such a sweet little place with lots to offer. Friendly staff and great value for money. They offer private parties and are accommodating for large groups if you give them some warning. Open from breakfast - dinner, very versatile... More
