See under Pierre Victoire where a comparative revue was made following a visit one week in June. An additional note worth adding was that Cafe Rouge needs a wider selection of wines and the staff should not shout at each so much especially towards the end of the evening,

The kitchens at the Eagle and Child were closed for refurbishment so we ended up here for a Tesco Boost funded meal. Service was quick and the garden was a sunny and pleasant dining room. Staff were moderately efficient and the pate rouge looked good. I was somewhat protein starved and on a budget so I went for the Aberdeen... More

Pleasant and agreeable staff, patient and polite. Beautifully cooked duck and the boeuf bourguignon was delicious I could of eaten more potatoe as there was a lot of sauce but it was lunch and hit the spot. The wine was a fair price and a pleasant compliment to the meal. We used a gourmet card which is usually welcome on... More

We are very familiar with this chain of restaurants and have typically been pleased with dinner. This last experience was not pleasant. The server rushed us to order, and our meal was average for the price. We may try again to see if it was an off night.

Made the mistake of sitting at the far end of a pretty quiet restaurant and seemed to be forgotten about as it was quite a while before we had any menus or a drinks order taken. Not all our party got what was ordered and the food was pretty average. The real downside was the sticking door to the garden... More

We visited last weekend and had a lovely, good value meal. We ate in The Folly the night before and this was much better and also cheaper. Hubby's steak and chips was very tender and my fish was very nicely cooked. Service was friendly and efficient.

We went here on a Saturday lunchtime. There were plenty of free tables at that time of day, but not so empty that it had no atmosphere. The waiters were helpful and the food arrived quite quickly. It was also very good food. The childrens pack entertained our daughter while we waited for the meal. It was a good meal... More

Have lunched and dined here and have always enjoyed the experience. They do an excellent brunch too.

Best to book in advance, if you want to get a seat! Food was very good and the waitresses were most attentive. I had a problem with my dessert this was returned to kitchen and saw chef checking it out and offered me a free dessert. Very helpful.
