Quite a walk from the main centre, but worth it for the food....and when you have a 25% off voucher! Tucked down a small street with other European cafés/restaurants. Loved the decor as usual and the snooty frenchness of the waiter :)

We are regulars, thanks to tesco clubcard deals, and never have we been disappointed. Tonight's meal was superb as usual, 3 courses each, all lovely, a beer, a large glass of wine, and water, and we had to shell out £9.75 (plus tip). We said, as usual, that if we had paid full price it would still have been good value.... More

Sullen and slow service. Had to ask for dirty table to wiped, was still left wet and sticky. Menus the same. Food was same old menu but okay. Maxed how varied service can be, we have some real gems in Bristol, both the Park Row and the Cabot Circus restaurants are excellent, but in Oxford, don't bother

8 of us ate here last night and the whole experience was excellent. We all shared 3 mixed starters which when we ran out of bread were topped up quickly with lovely warm bread. I had fillet steak and it was cooked to perfection with fries and garlic lobster butter. All meals were fantastic. We had copious amounts of alcohol... More

This rather special Café Rouge has a special advantage in hot weather, a back yard with tree and parasol shade making it a welcome oasis. For this reason it can be crowded and noisy but that adds to the atmosphere. Very well prepared and presented food with adequate wine list. Service frantic but efficient I don't know how the friendly staff... More

Despite being a chain, the Oxford Cafe Rouge has provided us with many good meals at a reasonable price. A good and varied menu, maintaining a high standard of food and wine.

Looking for somewhere to eat in an unfamiliar city can be challenging, so I decided to eat in Cafe Rouge, as I (thought I) knew what to expect. However I was deeply disappointed. The first member of staff who greeted me, led me to a table and unceremoniously dumped the menu onto my cutlery (a personal hate, perhaps a little... More

See under Pierre Victoire where a comparative revue was made following a visit one week in June. An additional note worth adding was that Cafe Rouge needs a wider selection of wines and the staff should not shout at each so much especially towards the end of the evening,

The kitchens at the Eagle and Child were closed for refurbishment so we ended up here for a Tesco Boost funded meal. Service was quick and the garden was a sunny and pleasant dining room. Staff were moderately efficient and the pate rouge looked good. I was somewhat protein starved and on a budget so I went for the Aberdeen... More
