Our 2013 transformation remains loyal to Gee’s traditions of providing quality food & service in the most beautiful restaurant in Oxford. Whether flooded with mid-morning sunlight or under Oxford’s evening sky, Gee’s is the place to enjoy exceptional food in unique surroundings. The tables on the outdoor terrace are surrounded by the dense foliage of topiary & potted plants – & if you like the plants, some are available for sale. The new interior is filled with trees, new furniture, soft colours & lighting.Of course the important aspect of the new Gee’s is the cooking. A brand new kitchen incorporates a wood fired oven & a charcoal grill; food acknowledges the continued interest in the origin of ingredients, seasonality & the variety & abundance of local Oxfordshire produce.Gee’s remains the place in Oxford to enjoy a fabulous meal. There are dishes for sharing & dishes in two sizes to suit different appetites & times of the day. Expect great food to suit every occasion, served by knowledgeable & friendly waiters, in this beautiful, iconic glasshouse in North Oxford.

Many of the recent reviews of Gees have got it spot on. Apart from the novelty of eating in a conservatory, there is little to distinguish this restaurant from many other over-priced eateries in Oxford. We visited for Sunday lunch and opted for beetroot soup (the only good part of the meal) and roast lamb and roast beef, both of... More

I took my partner here on a birthday visit, we has never been before and I was slightly worried due to some of the reviews. However when we arrived early we were seated straight away, drinks were ordered and menus brought over immediately. We were sat in the conservatory which was beautiful, we shared a bottle of white and we... More

The service was a bit slow but we manage to order as soon as we realize no-one will ask us. Food ok, although a bit expensive. Service was helpful with my little ones and charming, slow but charming.

Sitting in a conservatory and surrounded by greenery was very nice. Service went up and down. Choice was limited on the night we had dinner. A party of three for dinner service. Thought the table was quite cramped for three and there was not a lot of space on the table. Several of the specials had already gone. Overall it... More

The setting is still wonderful, but the food is not special at the moment - stale bread to start, gazpacho more like a cold stew than a soup, unadventurous menu, though the fish was good. We waited so long for the dessert menu that we went to George and Davis on Little Clarendon Street for ice-cream instead, definitely a good... More

As a treat my hubby and I love gees as a break from the norm. We were guessing in the car what would be on the menu as it always seems to be changing, we were not disappointed. We were surprised to see our favourite waiter Michael back after such a long time with a glint in his eye remembering... More

There are few more attractive restaurants in Oxford and the ambiance is great, but it's quite pricey and for the money you would expect top quality. However..... The service is very patchy and slow, the menu very difficult to read and frankly not a lot of choice - bizarrely half of the starters are pizzas. The main course of guinea... More

I feel Gees really has lost its way and no longer knows quite what sort of restaurant it is supposed to be. I have visited many times over the years and really liked it in its old guise when what was on offer was more of a fine dining experience. However, one can only assume that the figures did not... Should have read reviews prior to booking. When booking a table we were told it was the last table. When we arrived the place was nearly empty. When we left the place was only half full. Easy to see since most of the patrons seated in one corner. The place has potential with an attractive environment, unfortunately everyone in our... More
