Excellent Mussels

Though part of a chain, Loch Fyne tries hard to be different. Not least the waiters and waitresses are keen to help and enthusiastic. The fish is always good and at our recent lunch the mussels were some of the best. The ambience is pleasant if not striking though the Scottish Highlands backdrop... read more

My family surprised me by taking me to a restaurant I had not sampled before and I was really looking forward to a nice family 'birthday' experience. Even after a scouting visit to Loch Fyne by my wife and daughter the prearranged Champagne was delivered open and warm to the table with an excuse from the duty manager that 'his'... More

Good menu and knowledge of ingredients by the staff. Only drawback was the irritating background muzak, as ever just for the benefit of the staff, as there were few customers that evening.

As expected, a superb food, ambiance, and a nice special offer! The other disappointment was my server's handling of our drink order. I ended up paying separately for the drink which was included in the special offer (although we made a special request, which the staff consented). In spite of this, I will sure return for my next special evening.

We went today to this restaurant expecting a certain quality of food. The place is very nice inside quite different than the classical English style pubs and restaurants. It goes very well with the fish theme. Unfortunately the food didn't reflect our expectations. The Mackrell starter tastest like the peppered mackerel bought from supermarkets, which is mashed up and topped... More

Really enjoyed our visit here and having looked online found a 15% voucher - always handy! Food was excellent - razor clams were delicious, as were crab claws and scallops. Decent Prosecco too! My only disappointment was the lack of oysters :-( That's what I wanted and couldn't have!

Our first visit to Loch Fyne, Oxford and most certainly will not be our last. The staff attended to our every need, very professional. The atmosphere was very relalaxing! We both ate the mussels which I have to admit were the best that we have tried. Next visit will be back heading back with the grandchildren.

We were thrilled to find this wonderful seafood restaurant near our vacation apartment in Oxford. The staff is welcoming, and knowledgeable of their menu and wine list. We enjoyed a Muscadet with our delicious oysters. Main courses were just as good and the deserts were homemade and yummy. Highly recommended.

This was our third visit and it certainly wasn't a case of third time lucky. The food was bland, dry and not very warm. What was warm however was the bottle of Chablis that was put on our table. We did make our comments known to the waiting staff, who were very good and the wine was promptly replaced. It's... More

Recommended by Concierge at The Randolph we walked there after a long transit from CA. Very hungry and tired. Terrific ambience, excellent service by Matthew (all the handsome young British men look like Princes). The mussels were the best we'd ever eaten. Very plump, tender and in a tasty broth. Eli loved his Scottish IPA and I enjoyed a luscious... More
