Great food, nice ambience

We've not been here for a while. And noticed some variable reviews, but decided to give it a try for ourselves. The food was excellent and well presented. I had the sea food platter to share with my daughter and it was excellent, both hot and cold variety of sea food and a nice tasty lobster to... read more

Haven't been in a long a long time, we were deeply disappointed with the poor quality of the food and the careless service. Appetisers were the best (we only order two), but mains were not up to a restaurant of this price category. Lobster spaghetti dish was awful: acid, not sour, and sweet. It lacked flavour and had a clear... More

Went on a Friday night, and service was perfect combination of efficiency and good banter. Not sure why there are a few negatives about Walton street, as I found everything fine. Oysters great - though not a fan of some of the dips they came with - lemon juice and or tabasco proved favourite. Had a couple of starters -... More

Highly recommended as a safe bet. We've been a few times since our daughter is at Somerville and it's handy. Limited selection of reliable dishes all dumbed down, and varieties of fish limited to those in good supply. Bland wine. Bland service. Good chips though.

Our visit started with I think the manager pushing past us literally to get menus, I did turn and say 'excuse me' bless he hadn't even noticed!!!! Appearances looked ok, 5pm on a £Sunday night, after a very busy time for them!!! We sat in quiet area away from large parties, manager informed us couple things sold out, ordered, food... More

Loch Fyne on Walton Street serves really nice food. When I was in there last week, it proved hard for the staff to find a table, even though there were plenty of free tables. Bogged off for half an hour and came back. The food is very nice. The decor reminds me of Scandinavia rather than Scotland. And when the... More

Lunch visit with two others resulted in some truly delicious and well-prepared loup de mer and baked lobster mains. Fresh, perfectly grilled, moist and flavorful loup de mer. Lobster was declared excellent. Starters included potted mackerel and special ordered plain green salads that fit the bill. The end saw us devouring the lemon tart- a revelation of flaky pastry and... More

The last time I visited here a few years ago the service and food could not be faulted. Unfortunately on my second visit the food remained good but the service was not. My Husband kept his coat on throughout the meal as it was pretty nippy and cold blasts of air were omitting from some unknown source. We were served... More

We visited because of fond memories of Loch Fyne in St. Albans, what a mistake. The restaurant was cold; we noticed one guest eating whilst wearing her coat! The waiter, who was condescending and self-opinionated, introduced himself as "your waiter for the evening" and promptly left us with menus and kept us waiting for an interminable period before returning to... Called in Friday evening, very busy and only slight hitch was that our online reservation had not been actioned . However no problem as a table was quickly found and we enjoyed a really excellent value meal with a bottle of the house white wine. We shall certainly return and look out for more offers!
