Somewhat overrated but popular place trading on a reputation

My wife and I ate here for Valentine's Day two years ago (2013). Granted that maybe Valentine's Day isn't the best time to go to a place, but I have to say that we were both left somewhat deflated. The food was ho-hum, but the bill was definitely not. Bottom line: Fancy place to go, fancy bill... read more

Noisy, atmospheric, friendly, food delicious, champagne and wine good. Third visit to a Blanc establishment and not disappointed. Staff friendly and really hard working on a very busy evening. Quality of food and service did not suffer. Would highly recommend. Bill was less than expected but still good value for money. Next I me we are in th UK we... More

We had the set menu for lunchtime. Overall it was good value but unfortunately I ordered the Moroccan beef brochettes which arrive as kebabs. To me a brochette is small chunks of beef on a skewer. Saying that the staff were really helpful and changed the meal for me. Loved the sour bread!

My daughter and I, along with Mum and son were staying in Oxford to have a look around a Uni there and had decided to book accommodation in the Jericho district of Oxford, some 10 minutes walk from the Centre of Oxford itself. Jericho has its own little vibe going on, with lots of restaurants, pubs, cafes shops and a... More

Most of us ordered the set sunday meal and 2 of our party chose off the main menu. The staff are all very helpful and welcoming and... More

I'm a great fan of Raymond Blanc (who can be seen wandering around the restaurant from time to time). This restaurant, cleverly, seems to be as smart and formal as you want. You can pop in and have a quick lunch, or linger over a lengthy dinner: it works equally well for both. It's sometimes accused of being expensive. If... More

I want to like this restaurant: it's French and it's reasonably priced.  More importantly, it has crepes suzette five minutes away from home. And yet, I'm never quite happy and not just because the crepe suzette is overly sweet and the stuff hadn't been properly trained in serving it (they light it up with a cheap looking cigarette lighter and... Food not bad but not particularly good.... well, awful merengue as a dessert, don't ask it! Service is good enough. Too noisy. All in all we found it somehow overpriced although not excessively, skip french wines and it will fit better. Just normal, we won't repeat but if it's necessary we won't resist. Normal.

Very attentive staff who made you feel it was a special night out...but prices very reasonable. Choice very good and food delicious. Great to get morteau sausage in the UK! Special of the day was guinea fowl in mushroom sauce and my goodness was it tasty...the sauce was more like thinnish but intensly flavoured mushroom gravy with lots of tender... More
