Apart from the great coffee we also enjoy the milk shakes (raspberry!) and the food, e.g. the English breakfast with hummus. The place stands out on a road full of nice independent cafés.

So far the best espresso I found on Cowley Rd! Also good is that they give you a double for 1.50. In comparison, the Truck Store/Keen Bean and the Quarterhorse serve you a single shot of absolutely sour mud for two pounds. For me, the argument ends there. Otherwise also a nice atmosphere, good jazzy playlist that changes often, lunch... More

I come here purely for the chai lattes. Rich, creamy and delicious and beautifully presented every time. Beats the poor attempts of Costa and Starbucks hands down and only two pounds for a large one! Chilled venue and service with a smile.

I had a cappuccino and croissant there and found them delicious. I really enjoyed the fact that several newspapers are available for the public. Music inside a bit too loud and outdated, but it didn't bother me.

This is the favourite cafe of one of my friends so I tried it out the other day. I'm not really sure why she likes it so much! Perfectly good coffee and tea but not extraordinary. It does open late, though, and I didn't try the cake. Maybe that would sway me towards a '4'.

Fortunately (judging on previous reviews!) we had really excellent service at Rick's. We ordered 2 veggie breakfasts plus 1 tea (with soya milk) and 1 mocha (50p extra). Everything was delivered swiftly, and it was really excellent value. A real haven on a very wet miserable day. I also discovered humous with baked beans combo - revelation!

Rick's used to be a lovely place to come and relax over a coffee and a lovely pastry. The service has been a bit patchy at times before (20 minutes for a latte?), but it was a nice change from the chains. What's happened?! The place has a dark, cramped feel now, seems chaotically run, and the flat white wasn't... More

Rick's a nice, relaxed people watching spot. Free wifi, friendly staff, a great selection of tea and coffee. The patisserie is wonderful- the macarons are great. If you want a larger selection of cakes/patisserie to take away, try chateaux gateaux on St Clement's as they supply Rick's. All in all an unpretentious friendly spot for a quiet coffee or an... This place became like a second home for me and my friends. Most of our evenings were spent here, drinking coffee and working on our dissertations. You should definitely go there. The cookies and croissants are a must try. But more than the food, go there for the coffee and the ambiance. you won't be disappointed :)

It's not like it is a bad place... coffee was actually quite good. But 30 minutes for an espresso? Really? It wasn't even that busy... they didn't even bother bringing it at my table or apologising? reading the rest of the comments I understand it's not just me. I won't be coming back.
