Excellent food and very quick service

Booked a table for an early dinner before going to the theatre but we it turns out didn't need to go that early as we had finished our bread, two courses and bread within 45 minutes of arriving. The menu was very unique (updated daily for lunch and dinner, it seems) and the food was excellent. The... read more

Cool vibe to the place and a mix of clientele from students working on laptops to tourists. Wide mix of food seemed to be available. Order at bar service, no table service. Large table to seat mixed groups which is great for being nosy and listening to other people's conversations. Rhubarb cake was lovely and the chocolate brownie was very... More

On a recent visit to Oxford we found this very charming restaurant, which supports the Oxford Hub. Its aim is to get students to volunteer in the local community. The staff were very good and looked after us. Food served quickly, which suited my 7 year old granddaughter. A fun evening.

The food at this restaurant was ok, reasonably tasty but not delicious. The dessert was better than the main course (although the cream served with the crumble was single cream not clotted cream as per the menu). The service was a bit distracted. Despite its shortcomings though, it’s worth supporting the Kitchen as a social enterprise. All the profit from... More

After reading highly rated reviews my girlfriend and I thought we'd try this this place. Food was average and so were the staff. Staff almost seemed disinterested.

Excellent service - a slight mix up with our order was more than made up for with complimentary drinks and desserts. The plaice with lemon, new potatoes and rocket was delicious and very reasonably priced. The menu is different each day and favours a few well chosen dishes rather than trying to do a million things at once. Everything is... More

The food, drink, service and ambience here are excellent. Can't recommend it enough. Right in the middle of town, great shabby chic decor, waiting staff friendly but not pushy, menu quite eclectic and not repetitive, although there are obviously staple dishes but those are good. Also good just for a quick coffee or a casual drink

We were excited to be eating here for supper on MayDay eve after reading the reviews but we were slightly disappointed to find the food simply adequate. Couldn't fault the atmosphere or super friendly and cheerful service though.

We were recently staying overnight in Oxford and looking for somewhere for dinner as the hotel restaurant didn’t appeal. We found an advertisement for the Turl Street Kitchen and found a winner. It’s quite a small place with bare tables served by young, pleasant and enthusiastic people – probably students and well filled with diners. The menu isn’t long and... More
