Okay, here goes… The Ashmolean Dining Room Restaurant (at the acclaimed museum no less) opened in 2009 to great fanfare but this was my first – and likely only – visit. I’m not the greatest fan of the museum’s overhaul in general and my opinion that the museum now feels vapid and abstract from reality despite housing so many magnificent... More

Many thanks for your feedback. We are very passionate about our food so its a shame it did't meet your expectations. Please do get in touch with the restaurant directly before you next visit so we can ensure you have a wonderful time. The toilets are managed by the museum so I will pass on your feedback to them. Thought I would treat myself, while my family were away, to a trip to Oxford for the day (coming up from london). I've always wanted to visit this museum to see the art in particular. As it turned out the paintings are nothing special (some famous artists, but very much not their best work). But the museum itself is very... More

Some friends had recommended this and our expectations were surpassed. The food was really good quality using excellent ingredients sensitivity prepared. I am certain we will return. One thing that was a surprise was tarragon Pana Cotta... Sounds odd, but it really worked.

Definitely well worth a visit, whether after a visit to the museum galleries or as a restaurant destination. Each time I have visited the roof top Dining Room I have sat outside in the sunshine and it's just perfect. But it looks great inside too. The afternoon tea is fab as is the Sunday roast. My last visit on 2... More

This was a pleasant find after tramping through Oxford. I didn't wanted a full meal but wanted something like i.e. a classic tea. The restaurant sits on the top floor of the Ashmolean with a lovely open air terrace. In many ways it mirrors many establishments connected to tourist venues: polished, formal and a premium for the location. We chose... More

We went for the afternoon tea offer (found a 50% discount on our map of Oxford!) which was a really nice version of afternoon tea with all the trimmings. The staff were good enough to let me pick my choice of drink (I don't drink tea or coffee) and were very attentive and friendly. May be a bit pricey when... More

Very good quality food, good service but found the prices to be a little expensive. I would come again but only for a coffee and a light snack

Have been to the museum many times, but this was the first we had tried the restaurant. Very lively lunchtime service, with excellent views and service. Menu, limited if you are on a budget, but very tasty. Our party tried the squid, and mussels, both of which were excellent along with salads and fried. Great breads and olives to start.... More

Great view, especially outside if the weather is good enough, we have eaten there twice in the last month and both times the food has been excellent - especially the starters. In fact a couple of us shared five starters instead of having a main and starter - they were so interesting. Service was good on both occasions too, and... More
