The service was very good with attentive staff and food was excellent,we both had fish which was delicious. On a bright ,crisp winters day the terrace was perfect to get a view over Oxford and I would recommend for something different whilst visiting Oxford. However, the toilets are down stairs and whilst there are lifts if access is a difficulty... More

We had an early dinner here on a Friday night. The restaurant itself is a lovely spot, in a really gorgeous setting. We both had fish which was delicious and their wine list is very good. Overall I would recommend the museum restaurant for something a little more special while in Oxford; plus by dining at the restaurant you are... More

We decided to treat ourselves to lunch on a cold January day. The room is wonderful with plenty of glass and a view over to the Randolph Hotel and Oxford rooftops. It was 1 pm and they had run out of my first choice, rabbit, so I had a roasted cauliflower main course. It was very good but it was... More

I took my mum for an afternoon tea at the Ashmolean Dining Room on a Saturday to top off a visit to the museum. The service was good, the location is lovely, but don’t think I will be eating here again. Afternoon tea for two people consisted of a small pot of tea, three inch-wide sandwiches, one scone and a... Many thanks for your review. Our afternoon tea is priced at £13.95 per person. This includes 3 finger sandwiches, homemade scone butter & clotted cream and a selection of cake bites. The price of afternoon tea in Oxford varies from £7.50 to £35 per person and we have match our price with similar venues. We have started making the sandwiches... More

Having 'done' the Blake exhibition we went for a cup of coffee and a slice of cake. The coffee was excellent as was my partner's tea, but the cake was older than the prints by Blake. It was stale. No! staler than that. We mentioned it and were not charged, but surely the person serving it must have realised.

At last, a restaurant that manages to combine excellent food an service. The menu had some unusual choices and I very much enjoyed the brill, and a side order of chips. It makes a very pleasant change to have attentive, friendly service and not having to wait for the bill. We managed to get a table for 4 without booking... More

Visited for afternoon tea and it was pleasant. Staff were friendly and it had a calm atmosphere. Prices are quite high for what you receive. We had the celebration tea and there were small chocolates rather than the selection of cakes noted on the menu. Service is added onto the bill and the person at the table next to me... More

We went yesterday for lunch at the picturesque Ashmolean Dining Room in Oxford. We had booked, luckily, as it was exceptionally busy. We waited to be seated for a long time, but eventually were seated by a manger who seemed to disappear, while the place went crazy. I had a lovely piece of hake, my friends the duck leg and... More

Many thanks for your review. I'm glad Herb looked after you he is indeed a true gent. The period between Christmas and New Year was much busier than the rest of the Christmas period which meant that service was not as speedy as usual. I'm glad you food was nice and I hope to see you again soon. More
