Description: A celebration of food and wine alongside art and culture. The Ashmolean Dining Room provides the spectacular setting for Oxford's first and finest rooftop restaurant. We have a fantastic new menu taking the food back to a good, hearty British feel with a European twist. As the subject of gastronomy dictates, we have dedicated this menu to the art of good eating with introductions of rabbit and monkfish tail as well as treating you to a sublime bream dish and lamb rump to die for. Vegetarians will be left drooling for our pearl barley dish and cauliflower salad. And, what better way to top it off, but with our Paris Brest dessert. Ingredients are fresh and seasonal and we use many local Oxfordshire suppliers to bring the best quality to you. Our wine list is broad with 50 handpicked wines from around the world.

We just caught the roof-top dining room before it started to close, which was lucky as we needed tea and cakes to revitalise us after exploring the wonders of the Ashmolean in the three floors below! Seated by the panoramic window with views into the Ashmolean's courtyard, we quickly ordered two cream teas. These arrived promptly and were lovely -... More

I did find it pricey for what it was.... food was ok - not much choice though. Service was good although confusing as the servers ended up duplicating effort.

We've heard mixed reviews about this place. However on a rainy bank holiday we went for some shelter and afternoon tea. It was not super busy. The staff were prompt, courteous and friendly. For the tea you get 3 nice slices of sandwiches, a scone (with cream and jam), and a choose of homemade style cake or petit four. We... More

Had some afternoon tea. The scones was super tiny and dry. Literary falling to pieces when I put butter on the latte i ordered was good though. The "jam" for the scones was supposed to be strawberry jam. I don't know what I got...tasted more like smoked cherries or something. Little food fore huge amount of money

I brought my lady here for dinner and was treated to an all round brilliant evening. The staff were extremely accommodating, especially the host who looked after our every need. The starter was excellent and the catch of the day was exquisite. All followed by an eton mess and chocolate cake. A lovely setting in the centre of Oxford to... More

We spent a good day at the Ashmolean and broke it with a visit to the Dining Room on the top floow - we used their on-line reservation system that worked just fine - we had a lovely salad, and the service was excellent and unfussy. The atmosphere is vibrant and the room is very well laid out. The prices... More

Dinner on a Friday night. Friendly service, and of course a great setting on the top of the Ashmolean. Menu is Mediterranean influenced and was good.

I visited here with my mother before going to the Tutankhamen exhibition. We went and sat out on the terrace which had a nice ambience and was much cooler than the restaurant inside which was extremely hot. My mother and I both ordered the mezze selection for starter. What then arrived looked more like some sort of pate on bread,... More

My friend was keen to visit the Ashmolean, which is always a great place to go and see. We were late arriving, about 230pm, and hungry so we thought we'd try the cafe at the museum. Wrong idea. The cafe has a school canteen feel, so we tried the 'garden' which is actually a row of tin tables squeezed up... More

Enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea on the roof terrace. Service was friendly and attentive. Sandwiches, scones and cakes were all freshly made and very good indeed. It was a lovely sunny day so we sat outside and enjoyed the view. A great spot to get away from busy, touristy Oxford!
