Very good wine list

Never had a poor dinner at the Bear, the staff are always very attentive and the setting is very cosy. in the winter there is always a big fire burning and the place is very welcoming and you will not be disappointed.

Staying over nearby, chose to try out this venue, based on recommendations by other trip advisers. Did not disappoint, food and service was excellent, all four of us really enjoyed our meals.

Stayed last week for a long weekend Friday - Monday. Pre booked with the Pub direct who gave me a deal for the 3 nights. Cumnor is a great base for me to visit friends in Oxford and also explore the Cotswold gems such as Burford, Stow and fantastic town of Woodstock. The rooms at the Bear are great and... More

Popped in Friday evening for a quick drink to celebrate the end of a tough week. Ended up leaving around 11pm after having a couple of ciders, great supper and first class service. Paul and his team have made Bear a very special place and we are very lucky to have it in our village.

Sunday roast dinner is only available until 4pm or until they run out. We arrived around 6pm without booking, for the vegetarian wellington. We were told that the vegetarian wellington had run out long before 4pm. Note to self: Phone establishment to ask if they have run out of food! Note to establishment: perhaps prepare a couple extra of your... More

I frequently visit this place and it never fails to disappoint. The food is always of the highest standard and well worth the money. All staff are always welcoming and are willing to help and offer suggestions in any way they can. Quite often I will pop in just for a pint or two with friends/family/partner and always find it... We were visiting relatives in Oxford and wanted a top notch pub meal and this is exactly what we got! There were ten of us, four adults and six children ranging from six to eleven. Due to being a little disorganised, I didn't book it until the morning that we went but the staff were most accommodating and said they... More

I have visited the Bear several times over the last few years, for special occasions, casual visits and meals for two. I most recently ate on Sunday afternoon out on the decking area which is a real sun trap, the staff were brilliant as usual, very friendly, very attentive. Food was great I had a selection of starters and the... More

I visited here twice this month and both times the food quality and service received was excellent. Everyone (aged from 4 to 63) enjoyed their food. The deserts in particular are delicious. My only criticism is that there isn't much choice for vegetarians (there was only one option on the Sunday menu) Anyway, I highly recommend this pub - we... More
