A wonderful old building . Food only average, staff not particularly friendly. Disappointing. No longer the friendly welcoming place it once was.

We were a party of 10, for lunch, all arriving from different parts of the country for approximately the same time. The restaurant was quite full already, but the bar staff handled the tab very expertly and the waiting staff handled the order faultlessly. The food was excellent, just the right mix between "pub grub" (ie ample and hearty) and... More

My wife and I stayed at this Inn for 3 nights (room 8) week comm. January 18th whilst enjoying the sights of Oxford and surrounding area. Thoroughly enjoyable stay. "Olde Worlde" style with stone flagged floors and real log fires and a comprehensive range of cask ales. Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. Especially Audra. Mark, the owner was kind enough,... Spur of the moment Sunday lunch, first time visit for all of us(6) very polite staff, speedy service. The food was very nice indeed, fresh and certainly well cooked. If you have never visited you wouldnt go far wrong for Sunday lunch-worth a visit!!!

We never have starters when visiting this restaurant, preferring the choice of 12 sharing plates, with three each of fish, meat, vegetable and bread, for £3 each, which are great value. On this occasion I chose hommous and flatbread and chorizo. For my main course I chose guinea fowl on a bed of pumpkin puree with turnip tops, hazlenut and... More

We are here as part of a large group yesterday, to celebrate a 70th birthday. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal and found the staff very pleasant. I loved the fact we could relax before and after the meal by the roaring log fire. I left my bracelet there and didn't realise until today and Gemima kindly offered to post it... More

Entered by the side door to the old bar. Cosy but no service. Went to the other bar, grabbed some drinks and a menu. Enjoyed the fish n very chunky chips, the goat cheese tart and a couple of starters. Good service, tasty food. Nice. But man the bar.

A throughly enjoyable place with family. The food is great, the service is good. Desert - the sticky toffee pudding was fantastic. A great place for a Sunday roast.

We enjoyed a low key work Christmas dinner here. The staff were approachable and professional. We were seated by the old bar next to the fire place and it looked and felt wonderfully festive with decorations, a tree and the coal fire, it really was quite lovely. We chose from the Christmas menu and I have to say the food... More
