The food and service were great. Very nice atmosphere. I would come back! Felt like authentic home cooking

I ate here with friends and we all felt the food was disappointing. The restaurant was cold. The service was very good and the staff were attentive. The facilities were nice and clean. Wouldn't eat here again or recommend.

We stayed here, and above all ate here regularly, while doing up a house nearby. The room was very comfortable, more like a hotel than a pub. But the real gem is the food, thanks to a really excellent chef. We are fussy Londoners and lived in France for years, so we are not easily impressed. There are some unusual... More

Stayed here in the middle of Jan and it was impeccable... I stayed in the Landlord's Wing which is the old part of the building and the room was fantastic, so much character with all the original Tudor joinery etc., but really well restored and well appointed. If you love history and old buildings you'll absolutely love this place. Food... More

We paid a very good price for a 5 course set meal this NYE. The place was packed, the atmosphere was great and the service was very good. The food was delicious, but not perfect, the dessert let the team down but the pigeon in particular was delicious. I will be coming here again.

We had an enjoyable evening at this pub/hotel, and appreciated the fine interior and atmosphere (which to us seemed typically English!). The food though did not reach the same standard - rather fussy starters where one taste largely obliterated another, also very bland vegetarian main courses, although the fish and chips were both ample and tasty. Probably the high spot... More

I used to adore this pub which was our local. The last 2 visits have been so disappointing that I don't think I will return. My partner loved the burger which has now been removed from the menu, sometimes you want something simple and not too pretensios. The service with my parents we waited over an hour for starters, we... More

Being listed as a gastropub, can set the bar too high for some. This is a good pub-restaurant with friendly and efficient service. On the menu were both pub standards and some perhaps adventurous additions. The starters for instence were not quite up to the mark and the portions somewhat on the small side. The main courses on the other... More

We visited on a Monday evening and it was good to see the restaurant pretty busy. 2 tables full of people moved from the area that we were sitting in because, I think, they felt cold. We turned the radiator on next to us so were ok. Service was fairly prompt although we did have to remind for our drinks... More

My friend and I arrived after booking a table. We were shown to a table and asked if we wanted some water, bit strange, but hey ho. The waitress bought a bottle of sparkling water that , when poured was completely flat. We told the waitress and she bought another bottle which was even worse. She went away and came... More
