We have not been to Oxford for several years so it was delightful to find The Nosebag still in place. Be early for lunch, not fine dining, but splendid salads and main courses (meat or vegaratian, free water on the table. It is good to find some things do not change - thank you.

Met a friend for lunch yesterday,I was dismayed to see it had changed hands. The food looked almost as good with a few Asian additions. I had the vegan Masaman curry, although the flavour was acceptable the vegetables were very over cooked and it was just thrown on the plate with lumpy white rice with hardly any sauce. The owner or... More

I was surprised to find a vegetarian restaurant in Oxford! It was upstairs and the food is excellent. It is cafeteria style and very casual. Nice choice of salads and sandwiches. I need to be gluten free and had plenty of choices for a very tasty lunch.

This "restaurant" is in the same street as the wonderful Vanbrugh House Hotel. It is more cafeteria than restaurant, semi self-service. The prices are reasonable, but it is quite basic. OK for a quick meal. We had wine with our meal, I had red and my wife had white. Big mistake - drink water instead! The food was acceptable, we... More

This is one of my favourite places to eat lunch in Oxford or have a delicious cake and cup of tea. They have vegan and vegetarian hot and cold options, food is seasonal and fresh. The only downside is the cafe is in an old building at the top of some stairs so might be difficult if you have a... More

This is a great informal eatery with excellent food and organic produce. Well worth sampling the excellent salads and quiches. The only draw back can be the queues, as it is very popular, and the bench seating can be awkward to negotiate if you have any back problems. It is part of the ambience to share a table with strangers,... More

This little cafe is a real find. If, like other reviewers, you want a basic baked potato then you are missing the point to some extent. The selection of salads and specials are varied, full of flavour and fresh. We enjoyed a selection of the most fabulous salads with a massive wedge of granary bread. It was lovely and the... More

In 14 years living in Oxford, I've never given this place much notice, but I was pleasently surprised. Granted you're served "canteen style" but its quality, tasty food. And the upper level of seating is warm and, although wooden, comfortable. Just a nice way to lunch.

You can't really describe it other than to say it's like a quality homely canteen. The food isn't canteen-ey at all, it's all homemade delicious soups or lasagnes or quiches or cakes etc. The seating is comfortable - it really feels like a little oxford room where CS Lewis probably wrote something. You queue up as though you're in a... More
