After a friend took me to The Nosebag restaurant about eleven years ago, I could not wait to go back with my husband. As you approach the door, go upstairs and you will see a deli style L shaped case. On the wall, above, is a menu. You will also have a menu on your table. There are a couple... More

I am vegetarian and so have either to make my partner put up with veggie food (he is not veggie) or I have to put up with the usual options but this restaurant combines both brilliantly. I had a great choice of wonderfully tasty dishes and they also served great meat dishes too. It looks out over one of the... More

Not a luxurious place with canteen style ordering, but the room is pleasant and quirky and the food is amazingly tasty. Extremely generous portions and everything tastes wholesome and home cooked. There are some meat dishes on offer too. Tucked away from the main tourist throng. A happy place.

I went here on a quiet Saturday afternoon. I ordered the chicken liver pate. It had a limp tomato on top and the consistency was not smooth. The salad that it came with had no dressing and there was a lump of bread with it. I have never had it served like that before. It was really not good. The... More

We have not been to Oxford for several years so it was delightful to find The Nosebag still in place. Be early for lunch, not fine dining, but splendid salads and main courses (meat or vegaratian, free water on the table. It is good to find some things do not change - thank you.

Met a friend for lunch yesterday,I was dismayed to see it had changed hands. The food looked almost as good with a few Asian additions. I had the vegan Masaman curry, although the flavour was acceptable the vegetables were very over cooked and it was just thrown on the plate with lumpy white rice with hardly any sauce. The owner or... More

I was surprised to find a vegetarian restaurant in Oxford! It was upstairs and the food is excellent. It is cafeteria style and very casual. Nice choice of salads and sandwiches. I need to be gluten free and had plenty of choices for a very tasty lunch.

This "restaurant" is in the same street as the wonderful Vanbrugh House Hotel. It is more cafeteria than restaurant, semi self-service. The prices are reasonable, but it is quite basic. OK for a quick meal. We had wine with our meal, I had red and my wife had white. Big mistake - drink water instead! The food was acceptable, we... More

This is one of my favourite places to eat lunch in Oxford or have a delicious cake and cup of tea. They have vegan and vegetarian hot and cold options, food is seasonal and fresh. The only downside is the cafe is in an old building at the top of some stairs so might be difficult if you have a... More

This is a great informal eatery with excellent food and organic produce. Well worth sampling the excellent salads and quiches. The only draw back can be the queues, as it is very popular, and the bench seating can be awkward to negotiate if you have any back problems. It is part of the ambience to share a table with strangers,... More
