Sunday lunch

5 of us had Sunday lunch here on 10 May and the food was very good. 2 of us had a roast and the other 3 had fish and chips and we were all really happy with the cost, quality and portion sizes. We had booked a table for 12:30 and this was ready for us when we arrived and... read more

I first visited the Cape for a Sunday lunch a few months ago with a group of friends. I wasn't expecting much as the place stunk to high heaven of beer and all the tables were rather sticky and in need of a good wipe. However, we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the roast dinner that we received.... More

It's a big, sprawling pub with good food, good beer and a good atmosphere. What more do you want? Burgers in particular are worth a try.

Local pub , with lovely staff ,and good food Sadly the pub is in dire need of a makeover ... The ladies toilets are a disgrace and it's always freezing in there !

Hello, Thank you for your review and the positive comments about our food and staff members. We really want to be the best local pub and having friendly staff is the first step towards that. We do also agree that some parts of the pub could do with a bit of a facelift and so this has already been planned... More

Nice homely pub atmosphere, great beer , good choice of real ales including guest beers , and good home-cooked food. Staff very friendly and attentive . The brunch menu was imaginative and well cooked, in particular the smoked haddock risotto and pork sliders were delicious . The evening menu looked equally attractive . Family groups with children were also obviously... More

Don't go here on Saturday before 4pm unless you want breakfast or a small meal like a burger etc. as they don't serve proper meals until then. We had to look at the menu online as we got there before hand and didn't realise there was a limited menu option. It's a great little pub though that shows the rugby... More

Had dinner here on a Saturday night - perfect burger and chips. The staff were really lovely and their £9 menu with a drink is great value, plus it is one of the less studenty pubs in Oxford

I've been here quite a few times and the atmosphere is very nice, the building is big and spacious so you are never sat too close to other tables which is nice. On the other hand, the food was pretty poor. I ordered the roast dinner with beef, the seasonal vegetables were overcooked and tasteless, the gravy was watery and... More

Went here for a Christmas party last week. The top floor was hired out and this made the occasion seem as if it was for us, which of course it was. We were about 40-45 people and there was plenty of room. The service from the bar staff was excellent and the food was very good.
