Description: Idyllically nestled in the Chiltern Hills amongst some of the most...
Idyllically nestled in the Chiltern Hills amongst some of the most beautiful beech woods in England, sits this most pretty and picturesque English country pub with rooms. The Cherry Tree Inn is a 500 year old brick and flint building that was formerly 3 cottages. Now, a thriving, bustling quintessential English country pub and inn, it has had a huge lease of life since its new owners gave it a makeover in February 2012. Whilst keeping its gorgeous traditional interior, with original flagstone floors, heavy beams and low ceilings, they have also brought it right up to the 20th century with innovative design, interiors, colours and overall excellent service. The rooms are set in a lovely barn conversion next to the pub and with its four ensuite AA 4* letting rooms with king size beds and clean, crisp linens, it's perfect for both private or corporate needs. Breakfasts are hearty and guests are assured of a peaceful nights sleep in beautiful surroundings. The food is right up there with some of the best in the area. Modern British classics, meets some favourite European treats and all food is cooked fresh, to order and using only the freshest, where possible local ingredients from both local suppliers and some of the many estates producing some outstanding meats. The wine list is pretty healthy too, with Bury Brothers & Rudd supplying a lot of their wines. Likewise, they have a great selection of champagnes, the beer is very well kept with mainly the local Brakspears on tap and a good selection bottled beers, spirits and liqueurs. Just 6 miles west of glorious Henley on Thames and surrounded by some of the best walking, cycling and riding territory you'll find, it's firmly on the 'Destination Pub' radar, as well as being loved and supported by the local area.

Nice little venue for Sunday lunch

We went to the pub for sunday lunch and were very pleased. Food was great but good value. A little disappointed that the special roast lamb was not accompanied by mint sauce, nor was it available! Staff friendly and efficient and atmosphere perfect for Sunday afternoon.

The wonderful people at the cherry tree fitted us in at short notice on a Sunday - and what a wonderful surprise that they actually run a full menu on Sundays rather than the normal choice of roast something or other offered by most local pubs. Good, friendly and helpful service, lovely food and not eye wateringly expensive either. A... More

Exactly as the title says, great food, but the service was poor. Even though our food arrived promptly, being served at the bar and at the table was not so hasty as we had to ask repeatedly for the bill, and it took some time for the waiter to take our order. However, the food was fantastic and well worth... More

Had a wonderful meal here last night, the lamb tagine was stunning, wonderful flavours. Staff friendly and helpful. Log fire and Xmas decorations made the atmosphere lovely. I go here a lot and it was one of the best meals I have had at this restaurant.

what a shame ..... my friend and I had really looked forward to this weekend and our trip to the pub and area. Yes the welcome was warm and great that dogs are welcome, but the breakfast was a scene from Fawltey Towers..... one hour to cook bullets instead of Poached eggs, terrible coffee because the machine had broken, fishwife... Menu sounded fantastic, unfortunately the food was pub average. Slow roast belly pork good but not great. Fish and chips nicely presented but mediocre. Can't even remember starter or pudding, very disappointing. Lovely pub and garden, staff not the friendliness but good service generally. Shame the food didn't match. If the prices were pub lunch type prices then expect to... More

The area is lovely - all pretty countryside and nice little country pubs. About 15 minutes drive from Henley (mainly because windy country roads). The service inside was great, and we were given complimentary water. The room was a good size, with good sized comfortable bed (although it was quite creaky). The decor is ok, although the curtains let in... More

There is only one vegetarian main meal on the menu. I really dislike it when I have no choice. The meal is a polenta and mushroom dish with fig sauce. When it arrived I thought it was a starter as the portion was so small. There was so little sauce the meal was dry. I had to ask for more.... More
