Nice Pub

A nice Pub in the centre of the lovely town of Chipping Norton, beers on offer are pleasant Fullers brands, but are well kept. Food is on offer and the meals I've seen served look good and from the menu look good value, although I have not yet sampled.

Ate here with friends following a 2 hour walk around Chipping Norton. We were very hungry so ordered quite hearty meals; sausages & mash, burgers and scampi. The sausages were particularly good, local I believe! The food was very nice if you are looking for a hearty pub meal. We sat in the restaurant part which was nice at first,... More

A nice Fullers pub with an excellent choice of real ales. There is a separate TV room to watch sport - England v France , six nations was showing when we were there.. Didn't try the food but it looked excellent.

Called in for a bite while staying at The Fox.Typical pub,bit quirky but very welcoming and knowledgeable barkeep.Food was great and although one starter was not available, waiter was great and made us feel welcome. Portions just right and never felt rushed. We ate in dining room, pub was busy. A very very nice meal. Well worth a visit.

We only stayed for one round (white wine and a pint of real ale) but when the barmaid served other customers she didn't really seem to know what she was doing and couldn't open a bottle of Prosecco type wine. When two of the lagers wouldn't pull through properly (too lively) another barmaid said it could be the lines or... More

We booked this pub accidentally, thinking it was another one 2 miles away with the same name. However, whilst I was disappointed and irritated about this, it was, nevertheless, my mistake ultimately so I approached "The Chequers" with an open mind. When I made the booking, I had told the lady I spoke to that my son was very fussy... More

This place is so welcoming - the landlord and staff are really friendly - felt instantly at ease and comfortable. Great selection of small to full meals, well cooked and really good value.

Such a characterful old pub. A glorious building with all sorts of interesting quirks and beams. There for a business meeting, we packed out the restaurant so it was a bit snug. The food was delicious and plentiful. A great place to visit.

I say this a lot - being busy should not be an excuse for poor service, especially in this instance. We were a party of nine with three small children (they wanted plain spaghetti and cheese, hardly taxing) but there was no one else dining in the pub. Our meals came out staggered, and what sounded like a lovely and... More
