My partner and I visited this pub for a meal recently after it was recommended to us. On looking at the menu we were told the pie was steak and onion and we both opted for this. We started with mackerel pate, which was delicious. When our main course arrived the pies were burnt on top. My partner did not... More

This 16th century little gem of a Pub is the best we've ever been to ever! You get into the ambience as soon as you walk in the front door, low ceilings, exposed beams, mugs hanging from the ceiling, old timber tables and chairs and a fabulous collection of ales and cold beers behind the bar. We had lunch here,... More

We stopped here for a Sunday roast, on the way back home after a weekend away. We used to drink here occasionally, when we lived in Oxfordshire, as it has always been a lovely traditional country pub selling real ales. We hadn't booked a table, because we came here on impulse, we had to sit in the dining area, which... More

I've known this pub for many years but feel I must point out the dreadful service and dismal food we experienced recently. 50 minute wait for three sanwiches without any explnantion is not acceptable, however busy. When the sanwiches arrived (only after complaining), they were pretty dismal apologies for food....mature cheddar cheese was slices of rubbery tasteless whatever and the... More

Went for a snack lunch on a day out. Lovely bar staff, nice pub. Shame the gardens are a bit shabby, lovely hanging baskets but not cared for and dying. Dead cherry tree in th middle of lawn. Also a pity that you have to pass stinky bins to get to the garden. Real problem was the time 2 baguettes... More

The beer was warm as it should be in England :>) The food was actually pretty good, I had the baked salmon with pistachio on top and it was delicious.

Visited here with my partner on the 1st July - I booked in advance and asked if they could supply some balloons or something birthdayish for the table - they said they would happy pop to the nearest town to get some for me and add the cost onto my bill - I was gobsmacked at this - it was... More

Lovely old building , a wide range of real ales and ciders properly kept. Friendly and knowledgable bar staff.Food is more pub than gastro but fairly priced. An outside beer garden if the weather is fine and a very cosy if small interior if it is not. It's also an inn and so far off the beaten track that it merits... More

I looked up this pub on the internet and may have been reading the wrong pub menu as what seemed really attractive online wasn't what the Falkland arms offered. When we asked for a menu we were given a piece of paper with a short list of what was available, We made a choice from this limited list and then... More
