Average cooked breakfast on A40, but expensive

Situated on the A40 just west of Burford, it was a convenient stopping off point for us. The breakfast consisted of two fried eggs, two bacon, one sausage, black pudding, one fried bread and a grilled tomato, with accompanying toast. Tea was extra. I would always expect to be served runny fried... read more

We went here last week and had the most delicious pies....pork and cider pie and a steak and kidney pie. they were delicious. probably one of the best pies i have had. pastry was homemade and just right...not too thick. the vegetables served were just enough and well prepared. we will go back. the beer was excellent, even if not... Recommended by our accom's host for fish dishes. Located just on a super busy road, who would have thought this isolated tiny inn can serve such good dishes? Hubby had fish soup only as he didn't have much appetite while I had a roasted hake. Excellent stuff! Totally blown us away! :)

We have passed many times and have never stopped here before but yesterday we did and were very glad. We only had sandwiches which were very nice. Unfortunately I had to send the first one back because the chicken was a little pink but it was replaced quickly and when it came was delicious. The atmosphere was good, welcoming and... More

Visited here as passing through on the A40....really wished we had driven the extra few miles and not! £70 for a breakfast for 4!!!! Terribly overpriced for a meal that was rudely served, eggs not cooked as per request (despite being asked how we wanted them cooked), tasteless bacon, overlooked black pudding and fried bread but worst was the dog... Like many reviewers we stopped here by chance for lunch, two hungry travellers, expecting little but liking the look of the Inn. The greeting on arrival was so warm and the fish specials looked amazing. We played safe with steak sandwich but what a perfectly cooked steak. If they can make something so simple so tasty, we'd love to try... More

Unusual fare in a setting reeking of merry olde England. Menu has many delights, presented and served with a flair. In a roadside B&B in Burton. Where's that you say? In the Cotswolds finding it is .worth the trouble

Happened to see a sign for breakfast while passing. Picturesque and very oldie worldie. Wonderful selection for breakfast including several fish dishes. I had home smoked haddock with poached egg and my husband had a full breakfast. Both were wonderful. We also had toast with homemade marmalade which was to die for!!!! Great service and great atmosphere. Will definitely be... More
