Lunch at the Lamb

A business meeting is always nicer over lunch so that is what we did. We were ignored for a while and it took ages to get just a drink. Then we ordered lunch. One eggs benedict. One egg florentine. The egg benedict asked for spinach as well it came on the side. Surely they could have built it for... read more

I am sorry your visit disappointed you. I genuinely hope that you were not “ignored”. I can assure you that if this was witnessed, staff would be disciplined. Perhaps staff were otherwise engaged? I am disappointed that your time with us was only “ok” as our goal is much higher. More

We went for lunch on 28th March. The service was excruciatingly slow, and the rump steaks were like leather. The liver and onions was apparently good. We waited so long for ice creams !! that we said we were leaving, whereupon they ice creams magically appeared, gratis. There are very few tables for four people so we sat at a... More

Having investigated your visit, I struggle to find a reason why your visit was so slow. Rump is a tough cut of meat but I am sad that the steak provided was too tough. I would relish the opportunity to remedy these errors if you would care to contact me at manager@lambinn-burford.co.uk. More

We had the 8 course tasting menu and wine, we are surprised this doesnt have a Michelin Star. Food was delicious as was the wine. We went on a Sunday so it was a little quiet but I would think the atmosphere on Fridays and Saturdays would be great. We will definitely be back!

Our Chef is very proud of your review. His nine years here has been a stamp of consistency on the restaurant but praise of this level is always encouraging to accept. Thank you. More

We stopped for lunch on a bitterly cold Frebruary day and were delighted with the welcome, the wonderful old building, the food and the service. The loos were spotless and had individual hand towels for each guest and good quality hand soap and hand cream. We were offered the option of sitting with a small table, next to a log... More

I came here with a friend last week, on the recommendation of one of her friends. We ate in the bar, which was quite busy but we were attended to within a very short time. The drinks were brought to the table and we ordered a Deli- Platter ( Ploughmans ) for 2. The bread was fresh and tasted home... More

I am very happy that you enjoyed your visit. We aim to make all of our bar/lounge food offerings good value. Our deli boards, including the Ploughman’s have become a menu fixture and have an enormous local following. Thank you and I hope you will visit again soon. More

I have been going to the Lamb on and off for nearly 20 years now and the last three times it has been a big disappointment. I went there with a girlfriend on Wednesday for lunch and the butternut squash soup we had tasted of nothing but salt and oil and the garlic bread was soggy with so much salt... More

Only negative was the under-seasoning of the food at dinner. I know you can add salt but some seasoning needs to be 'cooked' in

Thank you for your comment and kind hotel review. Although we have a confidence in our Chef’s balance of seasoning your comment has been taken on board. More

We stayed at the inn. Loved having a glass of wine by the fire while waiting to be seated for dinner. We ate in the dining room and had a fabulous meal. Service was great. For breakfast you could have the buffet or order from a decent-sized menu. The buffet was your average items (cereals, breads) - but the menu... More

But i couldn't. It was really disappointing. The food is simply no good. We have been 3 times. The quality has deteriorated each time. I wanted this to be a great little local. But it isn't.

Initially we sat at a too small table in the bar area, flagstone floor and open fireplace with our puppy under the table. We were quite happy here (family of 4) but were offered an alternative table with more space. This was in the lounge area, carpeted but with open fires again. On a cold autumn day we all relished...
