Nice pub supper

We dropped in for a drink and decided to eat. Steak was really good and cooked to perfection. The dressed crab too was delicious and a large portion with chips and salad. We did have some garlic bread but this was a little anemic and not up to the quality of the rest of the meal. Service was... read more

Wonderful, the whole experience was great. Breakfast was as good as dinner, with fruit, and lovely offerings like eggs benedict, eggs florentine and eggs royal. I had smoked trout for breakfast. Small bones prevented me doing it twice but it was lovely and fresh. The jams are legendary, very good and taste home made, as is the bread. This is... More

We went to The lamb and the place is just beautiful, full of rustic charm. We had a couple of drinks and thought we would stay for lunch. Unfortunately the prices were very expensive. For the 4 of us it would of cost £40 for sandwiches. I will not pay those prices, so we moved on! A beautiful building though.

Recently had lunch here and was very impressed with the service and food, therefore am very surprised by some of the experiences other reviewers have had. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience for a number of reasons. Firstly, the pub was dog friendly and I always like to see a jar of biscuits on the bar. Secondly the food was outstanding,... More

This must surely be the best restaurant in Burford. Reviews in the hotel section give a truer idea of its qualities. Lovely setting appropriate to the ancient building, attentive staff and classy cooking with all the trimmings of fine dining - amuse geules, fine bread, good wine list. We were only going to have 2 courses but were tempted to... More

Had a very average meal at not average price to the point that my wife didn't want to finish her main as it was so dry. When I asked for ale choices the member of staff look couldn't help and took ages fo another member of staff to come over. Once home we wrote an e-mail and got a lack... More

Cooking standards in the pub were not as we have come to expect when visiting for lunch shortly after Christmas. There was an excellent crayfish risotto from the specials board. But some dishes were distinctly ordinary (meet pie and macaroni cheese) and the crab was frankly rather poor. Hopefully, this is a one off blip, at a difficult time of... More

We stayed at the Lamb, and had Sunday lunch in the splendid dining room. The food was first class, albeit not as warm as we would have liked, and the service spot on. Special praise for the choice and presentation of the cheese board.

These were served at 'High Tea', along with another 'speciality of the house'- grated cheese ( species unknown) sandwiches. Turnip sandwiches were new to us, and, in fairness were probably a delicay in 1300AD. Naturally, with food of this complexity almost an hour was required to prepare these delights, and arrange a nice curl on the edge of the ginger... More

My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary with a meal in the Lamb's restaurant. The food was excellent, the service friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was warm and calm with no garish Christmas music intruding. The smoked fillet steak was particularly noteworthy as were the desserts. In summary, a lovely restaurant in which to celebrate a special occasion.
